Lifetime account
With click 300 this and 200 that content and no expansion i don’t expect this game to last long enough to make it worth it. Yesterday we had problems finding 2 random players for CoF, there were barely any people at entrance, we were shocked. If it’s not a sign GW2 population is seriously droping i don’t know what is. So the answer is no

That’s very strange cause I was LFG to do COF and was having a hard time getting group because it was always full by the time I message them.

Actually that’s a sign that your server probably isn’t too interested in CoF right now… Especially given that yesterday was WvW reset day. Or maybe you happened along a “break between waves”, so to speak, and caught most people already on the dungeon. If you go to LFG you’ll see there’s no shortage of people running CoF. If anything the list just keeps growing.
Back to the topic… I would not. I doubt it because of having the option of getting gems with gold (which I do a lot). I also would not be comfortable with dropping 200 bucks on a single game. Nah, not me.

Omg no one was at the entrance to CoF. Gw2 is obviously dead..
Other games have offered lifetime membership for around $200. They had subscriptions then moved to a F2P model. When that happened they gave their members the equivalent of ‘gems’ per month to equate to what their sub would have cost. For example, if GW2 cost $15 per month to play, a lifetime member would have been given $15 in gems per month for the life of the game.
If you could pay $200 now and get $15 per month in gems for the life of the game, would you pay it? It would take just over 13 months to start seeing a profit from your investment but from there on in you’d be better off if you were a regular gems purchaser.
That’s over a year! I might not be playing GW2 then, or I might not even be alive then (or tomorrow). Nah, I’d just rather have a kitten-load of gems now. Splurge!
It would definitely benefit dedicated players who have been spending $ for gems. I would get a lifetime membership. I just did a tally of my ANet Gem receipts in my email and I spent over $700 already in gems since launch. I still average about $35 monthly for GW2, and I don’t plan to stop this game any time within the next year or two. $15/month means the $200 is paid off in a bit over a year so it’s not a bad deal for me at all.
i chose to buy this game because it doesn’t have a subscription fee or membership fee or whatever and give me the chance to have gem through gameplay

I love the wild conclusions people draw on no evidence.
For one, its one instance.
Also, a lot of people don’t just idle on the map of the instance they want to run. gw2lfg is used while running around doing whatever else while forming, getting into a group. Why would I idle on a map waiting for people to come along and hope they have room when I can other things and use gw2lfg?

No, I agree. People are dropping from GW2 like flies. I had to guest to 2 different servers just to get a party for CoF, and even then it took around 4 hours. I expect this game to last about another year, at most, and if it lasts longer than that, I’ll be seriously surprised. The way Anet dished out those RNG boxes really got to a lot of people, so they left to go play other games.

Dude, nobody yells in map chat LFG anymore, especialy not @ CoF, we all use gw2lfg.com, and it keeps getting harder to get in CoF PArties, idd, why? because they are full when I /Join them. I fel the game lost a lot of people between september-December, but around Wintersday it stablized, since wintersday there is a big influx of new players (atleast on SoR)

This, Anet have destroyed this game, they put out this new content bi weekly when they can, hoping it will keep people coming back, it does show that the dev team are busy, but they IGNORE the masses of topics on this forum about there END GAME AREAS that are dead, over 20 hours of “farming” in CS this week and I have less than a dozen T6 mats to show for it, its a bloody joke,

It’s a silly idea. Basically every game that’s offered a “lifetime subscription”, that I’ve seen, has either gone completely Free2Play or has gone bye-bye (shutdown). Most of the time, especially when it comes to STO and Champions Online, what they’re doing is giving the Lifetime subscribers those same benefits as subscribing. Even in their “F2P” state, they still charge for things that would more or less be an essential feature of the game. Those who got the Lifetime perk are getting what they’d get normally from the game via subscription, while everyone else gets a watered down product that won’t allow for everything without more $$.
GW2 is a completely different beast all together. We players get most everything out of the box. The gem store is convenience and fluff items only. Do you want more than 5 character slots? Find, cough up the gold or pay a bit to support the game…but pay it once, not every month either. Same for if you want mini-pets, extra boosts, or flashy town cloths. All fluff, no core. Those other games sell features like character customization, class creation (see Champions on Archtypes), chat access, mail access, and even resource gathering. That’s what they’re giving those Livetime subscribers…access to core features that are locked out to F2P gamers.
Your scenario is a moot point and wouldn’t work. Because it’s basically asking for free stuff beyond 14 months from a gem store that helps support a far greater content update cycle than those other games that went for the quick-buck choice. As above, the gem store in GW2 is way different than what those other F2P convert games are selling in their stores….they’re selling the basics of the game, GW2 already did that when you buy the box, the rest is fluff.

You’re welcome.
Seriously, everyone uses the site for forming groups across servers. People aren’t at the gates waiting because there is zero reason to do that. Using the site you can get yourself the group you want, when you want it, and be on your merry way in no time. Why would they be hanging out at the entrance if it takes 4 hours to get a group doing that?

…Because they keepin’ it real.
But this game didn’t start with a subscription, lifetime or otherwise.
Games that offer lifetime subscriptions usually are looking for a quick way to pay off development costs. Games tend to go from subscription to a hybrid model where players can become premium players and still pay a subscription fee but are able to access more features than a F2P player and those premium players also get a Cash Shop stipend or discount. That is why a lifetime subscriber gets a Cash Shop stipend or discount, they are also now premium players but for life.
Funcom, Cryptic, Turbine all the same with their conversion to F2P/B2P.

You can lead a horse to water, people are idiots.
I’ve honestly always seen “lifetime accounts” has a fisher’s bait and the people buying into it as the fish. With life time things such as this, you assume a few things.
1. You’ll be playing long enough to make it worth it
2. The game will live long enough for it to be worth it
Those two alone are honestly very large assumptions that are based on two extremely large unknowns.
