Hello everyone, first off i want to say gw2 is the best game i have played in years. I quit all other games and just love playing guild wars. Im either hanging out in LA, doing pvp/spvp, in eternal battlegrounds or just helping people while roaming the world. Now ive spent quite a bit of gems already for skins, gliders etc but im looking to make a legendary BOLT. I dont mind spending the money to buy gems then buying the mats/pre but im just concerned that if i do drop this money, what if a new version of the game comes out? In the past were items transferred over from one version to the other? If gw3 was to come out will i have a chance to bring over items. Is there a better chance of a expansion or a whole new game? I know these are some weird questions but just based off experience id like to get some suggestions on whether i should go ahead and put this money in, or wait it out. Thanks everyone, see you in TYRIA

Anet has stated they are working on a 2nd expansion. I don’t think you will have to worry about a GW 3 for a very long time if ever.

If a GW3 does come out, it will be likely well over 10 years away. MMO’s take many years to make and GW2 has plenty of life in it.

Generally speaking unless something goes horribly wrong there will never be GW3, Anet will just keep GW2 going a long as possible.

Anet only made Guild Wars 2 because there were things they wanted to do which were impossible to do in Guild Wars 1 (dynamic events for example). And even then they kept the servers going so anyone who wants to keep playing GW1 can do.

There is no reason to think they will make another game any time soon. They’ve not said anything about it (last time we were told 5 years in advance) and have said they are working on another expansion for GW2.

If they were clever, I think the engine or the base is either cappable or modifyable enough to allow updates and overhauls here and there.

I started GW2 1.5 years ago and was afraid, with all the new pseudo-shiny titles out there, it might be something like a sinking ship, but no, and I realized why. When I bought my new PC in 2013 I played FF14 until I figured out how simple, mind-numbingly boring the whole universe is. Recycled content (“fan service”), boring gameplay, lackluster story, console focus (hardware and control wise). In other words: It sucks. I had a good time there, but not because of the game. And YoshiP is probably the worst game designer ever.

The forums are already a change in every aspect, but the game, well, I am here to stay. For a long time. Finally a game that does not go either Asia or JRR Tolkien (Dwarves, Elf guys, Gnomes…), but its own way. No genderlock. Great races and lore. A real war story, not these politically correct “We love each other except the very grim looking enemy over there” nonsense and this beautiful art. The voice acting in German is fine, the male Asura voice extremely tallented and the combat is fun.

Once you find your profession and race to enjoy, the real role-playing can begin. Before, it is mostly just fiddling around.
