"Light armour" for the Guardian
A guardian is not a monk, and was never meant to be like a monk.

Further, Guardians will never have Monk skills like Ray of Judgment, AKA Guardian Focus 4.

A lot of GW1 skills got recycled into many GW2 classes. Some of the warrior skills made their way to guardian.
Just use arcane outfit..
Without delving too much on how the Guardian is essentially the spiritual successor to the monk (certain skills have made it over, albeit tweaked for gw2, as well as aspects (aegis, for example), my post was with regard to trying to achieve a specific look. Please try to keep to this topic.
I know. I was just being cheeky. Even that being said though, Guardians did pick up a lot of Monk skills. Thematically speaking, Guardians feel like a mix of Paragons and Monks. I appreciate that they’re not Monks, but they do have a lot of Monk flavour.
Reckon that there’ll be new armour sets for HoT? If so I really hope that there’ll be skins that achieve the ‘light’ look.

You’re going to have a difficult time finding something that looks like a light armour set for a a heavy armour profession. Outfits are honestly your best possible recourse here but you don’t seem to want to take advantage of them. Failing that, you could make a Water Elementalist and pretend it’s a Monk, despite it being less Lighty and more Watery.
I still think Monk can make a comeback, just not the healing archetype.
Fist weapons? I’m listening….
Crystal Desert
I am wearing an outfit, I mentioned my happiness specifically of the Monk outfit that was recently released. Up until that point, I had been using a chef’s outfit (hat turned off) dyed to mimic the style of the Ascalonian starter armour. I know it’s difficult, which is why I’ve posted here, maybe there’s been some datamining of upcoming releases or the like which may suggest a more homogeneous approach to armour sets.
…I really want to be able to immerse myself better into this game with my main character. I’d be interested in getting thoughts about this from others.
If you want to “immerse” yourself in the game, you have to accept the game as it is. In GW2, there are no light-armored classes such as the one you describe. (I’m not saying you have to like the fact — immersion only requires that you go with the flow, not whether it would be how you would design the game.)
If you’re comfortable with a monk-like appearance with added light breastplate, I’d suggest the HotW chest and legs, with the pitfighter (I think?) boots. The legs look unarmoured and the boots are like leather boots with metal ornaments, plus they have the front open like sandals! I I think Heavenly Bracers would go well with them too if you got those unlocked from HoM.

Dragon Hunter will get a trap called lights jugement , which is basically Roj that reveals enemies
