Limited?
It will actually add ALOT more build diversity
We’ve always been limited to three trait lines.
as far as i know, yes, you can only use 3 trait lines at one time when it rolls out.
kinda sucky for theory-crafters and the like, but i could definitely see the benefits it would have towards new players, and the thought of having 3 grandmaster traits sounds pretty appealing to me
Keep in mind you can always completely change trait set ups any time out of combat.
No Vayne, we are not limited to 3 lines, if you so choose to you could put points into all 5 lines. And how, Faux, does this create wider variety? And Thank You Normal Person for your answer =)

No we are not atm, you can do 2/2/2/2/2 if you want, for like Guardian for alot of players, 4/5/0/0/5
but, NOW Guardian can do 6/6/0/0/6
Also, some traits are being Completely Removed and Others are being Added, traits as you seen will be more powerful than before. many reason for doing 4/5/0/1/4 type of builds was for silly reasons like Vigor on Guard.
There is no way to know if it will have any negative effects until they are release.
But Until then Im 100% sure 3 FULL trait lines is better than the ability to put any number of limited traits into/upto 5 different trait lines.

I agree with you. Having to choose from a poor grandmaster (or master) because you like the other options in the line sucks. I will have to deal with it of course but that don’t make me any happier seeing as five of my current builds are not meta but have traits I am used to playing. Builds that incorporate more than the three lines will unfortunately be a thing of the past.
A lot of the traits that worked well together and spanned multiple lines are being moved all into one line now.
Like my GS warrior build is 4/4/4/0/2 but with the new traits I actually end up getting everything I wanted and more despite only having access to 3 lines, for the worthwhile traits for the greatsword are all being pushed into the power line rather than split power/precision.
This system won’t hurt diversity much at all. I don’t know if it’ll improve it, but it won’t hurt it. I’ve yet to find someone upset by the arrangement of existing traits in terms of builds (some were nerfed/modified, but I mean totally unplayable) – ANet did a good job making everything fit nicely together.

And change can be good, I honestly cant wait and wish we could have them now after seeing some of the new traits we have figure many new optional builds for fotms/dungeons/pvp. There hasnt been a Meta build that isnt going to benefit from the changes.
Some out of the box builds can be effected by the change, but over all its a good change, Remember Even if we could still pick where all 18 points went, builds still wont be the same, 4-6 Traits are being removed from each class, many are being doubled up and new trait are coming out.
I will of course adapt, but some of the adepts I used in the past such as necro spite I was parasitic bond (gain health when you kill a foe) is being changed to (gain health and lose conditions @ 25% health). This adept is much more important to my necro build than the unholy sanctuary (grandmaster in death magic) or any of the minion grandmasters as I don’t use minions.
As it sits now though I cannot go 1 point into spite to get this trait and instead HAVE to choose unholy sanctuary. Like I said I will adapt, but it won’t make my current build any better with this change.

lol
I think this is a wait and see how it plays out type of thing. I just hope it doesn’t narrow us into even less build choices.
