But in WoW it made sense for some of the harder content, this is just insane.
Don’t worry. Mop is around the corner and all the WoW kids will be gone (i hope)
During the betas, stress tests and even the 3 day head start map chat was a pleasure to read. Since official launch it has been on a downhill slope, the community turned to (insert fitting word here) I have had map chat off since 2 days after official launch. Every time i do turn it on for whatever reason i read 3 lines and it is back off again.
I cannot wait for Mop, i really cant. Hopefully it rips through GW2 like a tornado taking all the wastes of space with it and throws them back into Azeroth.
Map chat on Desolation has been fine as far as I’ve seen. There’s less chatter in the starter areas now, it’s mainly used for finding dungeon groups and calling out events, but I haven’t seen anything bad.
But I don’t see what good a “gear score” would do in GW2 since gear is not that much of a factor and a lot of it, especially the end-game stuff, has the same stats.

I just saw “gearscore” and shuddered…
Gearscore…oh god no.I would quit immediately and never come back if it was implemented.
It’s actually a great idea, as the request to link achi and GS shows me someone to be placed on ignore. These people are the moronic core of idiocy.

I choose kittens!
Or you MUST have full CoF gear set for speed run… lol XD
nice, a way to filter noobs out of pugs, maybe that will made dungeons playable
For anyone asking why there is no gear progression, THIS IS WHY!
This is the exact reason why Anet made that decision.
I like that people say stuff like that in chat. It lets me know what groups I should avoid.
Also, check out Hardcore Adventure Box: World 1, World 2, Lost Sessions
Main Character: Dathius Eventide | Say “hi” to the Tribulation Clouds for me. :)
I think we should let them have their capes and mounts so we can tell who’s who from a distance.
Of course the mounts should walk at the same pace as pack mules and the capes should have a chance to get caught in the wind and yank you off a jumping puzzle…
He might start thinking he knows what’s right for you.

People making statements like this are just as close minded.
It’s their group. They have a right to make whatever demands they want. You have the right to make another group without those demands.
Wait, why are capes a bad thing? I would like capes. I think capes are cool. Why the cape hate?

You do realize that his screenshot was from guild wars 2?
Their choices in making it so the only way to get dungeon gear is by grinding badges basically forced this to happen.
They want this audience. It’s what dungeons were made for.
Guess what? When MoP comes out nothing is going to change. I know, you all want to believe that it’s just evil wow’s influence on the game. But it isn’t. These are the people who like the game, and they’re going to stay.

Watch the linked video.

It’s exclusionary sure. But absolutely nothing is stopping you from making your own groups.
The system wouldnt exist if it didnt work. And it does work. It provides a way for players to group with other players who they KNOW have at least a rudimentary knowledge of what they’re about to attempt and do. Now, some players may find that they have more fun with a random group of first timers. But there are some times where I just want to get through what I wanted to get through (Those last 60 tokens for my SE helmet for instance) and at that point these types of groups are a godsend. No mucking about with a PuG which may fail because of one guy who has never done the run before.
If you enjoy the random aspect of playing with people who might be first timers, or whose relative skill level you can never be sure of that’s well and good. But please dont call someone else closed minded because they’d prefer to be sure they’re getting “good” players.
It’s like if a restaurant tells you that they need you to have 2 years of cooking experience before they’ll let you be a chef there. You can call them closed minded all you want, but they want the person who they KNOW has some experience doing what they intend for you to do.
I meant in a game environment such as this. Thankfully there are no planes in Tyria… so we can haz capes now?

So you’re saying that the dungeons are equivalent to a job?
gearscore would be great, would help to filter out selfish magic find people.
I can’t take anyone with a peice of CoF or Arah gear seriosuly. It just screams “lololol look at me, i cheesed this gear” I’d rather take the chance of taking someone who’s never done it before than someone who takes themselves to seriously.

It’s an analogy?
The group in this case is the restaurant. They want someone to fulfill a role (or in GW2, a party slot, as roles are sort of non-existant now) and they’re looking for someone with at least some level of experience so that they know there’s a lower chance you’ll mess it up.
You can disagree or hate it all you want. But if you cant see why players do it, or why it can and does work beyond “lol WoW players, gb2 WoW” then there’s really no hope for you.
I’ve never done Arah explorable yet but I could link this shard thing with just a little bit of internet research. Not a very good metric…

Ye thanks for that but I was actually talking about gearscore in the topic title. People are already demanding full exotics but luckily those aren’t that hard to get.
It’s actually pretty impossible to tell which people will stay or leave but I’d like to think that as more easy going people reach 80 we’ll start seeing more diverse LFGs.
Well, there’s sort of a unwritten social element to this.
If you were really suffering from trust issues, you wouldn’t be pugging at all. You’d be recruiting from your Guild. This isn’t a WoW dungeon where you need to fill eleventy bajillion slots of very specific classes, it’s just 4 other people you know and trust.
I just don’t think a month is enough time to set up an impressive enough social network to recruit from people you know yet.
