Linsey Murdock broke my heart
I don’t really get why your entire game centers around a legendary. The game is huge…legendaries are a small, small part of it, made to be a long term goal. Put it on the back burner, accumulate the stuff you need for all legendaries, and see what happens.
The more you focus on a legendary, the worse the game will be for you.
Anet has confirmed that precursor crafting will be coming in 2013.

Not only that but a new type of legendary, probably a trinket. In 2013.
“Very likely it’s gonna be through crafting but we haven’t finalized that..”

I have 8 lvl 80’s and I’ll soon be done with my last character. My highest motivation for playing the game tends to revolve around weapon and armor skins (which anet seems to realize given the legendary updates and transmutation stones among many other things) I’ve put it on the back burner for 10 months, hoping for a change. How long should I wait until I can make this a reality?

Oooh, it says published Sept 3 on the video, is this new? If this is new it makes me very happy. I thought the newest info was Linsey’s. Thanks very much for the link and the time-code on it so I could find the info quick.

As far as I know that’s from PAX which was this last weekend.

“We announced precursor crafting earlier on in the year, but I cant say much about it, though it’s still something we’d LIKE to do…”

This is the nail in my proverbial coffin. Broke me’ heart.Starting to wonder if I should just give up forever on ever getting a Legendary. Which probably means I’ll be playing less unfortunately = /
I wish Anet would give us something more on this, just a ray of hope in what seems like a black pit.
Thats not true. Colin said in an interview just a few days ago that precursor crafting was coming in 2013.

There’s new stuff in this game pretty much constantly. The question I’m asking is what’s the difference how long you wait? You got 8 80’s so you’ve done everything?
When you get your legendary then what will you do?
The more you focus on a legendary, the worse the game will be for you.
That’s not a very good end game then… when ArenaNet specifically talked about Legendaries being the end game.
For many players, getting to 80 and completing the zones is the whole game… what more for them is there to do, besides this?

It’s not a very good end game. I never claimed it was. lol
I’ve been against the way precusors drop since the beginning, even though I got one. I’ve bee relatively vocal about it. I’m quite disillusioned with the whole legendary process.
And if you truncate it out of the game completely the game is much better, from my perspective.
But then I don’t believe in end game at all. I don’t like it and I don’t want it.

Actually, they said “endgame begins at level 1” in reference to that fact that they didn’t want pre-level cap and post-level cap to feel like two different games, as is the case in many MMOs. What legendaries were put in the game for, is for the folks who like to have something to grind for. And, as originally implemented, they carried no advantages. They were just shinnies for folks who like shinnies. Now, there are advantages to having one… but that’s neither here nor there.
No sympathy for the Devil, keep that in mind.
