Lion's Arch load screen.
I’m pretty sure this is concept art done by Daniel Dociu (ANet’s art director).
He does use a lot of photos in his art, and by mixing/blending them together with all his painting & lighting techniques, he comes up with those giant environments.

Photos probably comes from his personal shots, or maybe from stock-photography that you can find on resources websites for artists.

Noticed him ages ago but now my curiosity has me wondering.
Did you guys take a bunch of photos and throw them together for the load screens?
Where did you take the images exactly?
Some gate guard might not know he is in GW2 lel.
OMG I thought I was the only one who noticed that! The random gate guard in his blue polo shirt was the first thing I noticed when I saw the new loading screen and it’s now all I ever focus on because he just looks so out of place. It looks like there also might be a woman with a long brown ponytail standing a little to the right of him…
I wish we had concept art that actually looked like Lion’s Arch instead of some pictures that look like downtown London with some water colors splotched all over it. (no offense to the art director, of course). But whatever, they’re just loading screens.

thats why i made the thread about the ability to give us an option to get custom loadign screens…
this pictures is all but just colors right in your face. I don’t liek it and owuld love it, if I could somehow exchange it out with somethign different, that fits more to Lions Arch
Basically everytjhign that we need to know for that is, what size of a picture the picture must have,m what file format the picture must have and where into a file folder or so we have to save the picture, so that the game will load it as loadign screen…
we can have already custom background music, so why not also too custom loadign screens (woudl give s at least the optino to get back an older LA screen for example or to place in self made pictures ^^)

And what is that lion on the right so afraid off?
I like the art itself, but it seems wrong to use it as the loading screen for LA. It doesn’t look anything like LA, not even the vibe. I agree, it feels much more like a modern city (like London), especially with the reflection of lights in the water and that “light pollution glow” that seems to be present in the picture.
Where’s the nautical theme? The beige, sandy browns, turquoise and verdigris colours?
I really don’t like the art for Lions Arch because of this. It looks badly photoshopped, unlike other art in the game. I wish they would change it or redo it or something.
I know it’s an old thread, but I’ve just recently came back to the game and I’ve been busy with the new HoT content, so I haven’t seen this loading screen yet. The first time I ported to Lion’s Arch the other day, I was like “Wow, that looks exactly like the Chain Bridge in Budapest, Hungary!” so I did some research.
