List of "Mats" that need storage spot
221 hours over 1,581 days of bank space/hot pve/lion’s arch afk and some wvw.
All of the scribe stuff.
Patches for insignias.
Sigils and Runes please. Everything I salvage almost drops one of these.
Makes salvaging for room almost pointless
Keep the list growing peeps!
221 hours over 1,581 days of bank space/hot pve/lion’s arch afk and some wvw.
Agony infusions – all ranges (+1→ up). I have like 10 stacks of this stuff in process of being upgraded for toons.
All keys/crowbars/chan acids/auric basin keys etc…allowing auto opening of you have it in bank.
All seals of x, crest of x, medallion of x – these are used in the MF to promote stuff.
All the essences of luck and the intermediate steps to the max one.
All items offered by http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Miyani#vendor2
- the only exception should be the legendary recipes.
This would include philosophers stones, crystals, tomes of knowledge,..
In addition Alchamist store which would hold all Potions:
PvP Potions – should be bankable.
All Potions/ of X Type.
All tuning crystals
FOTM potions
And most importantly in this area would be:
Drinks !! — somewhere we can hold all that booze we love to drink whilst mapping (it’s so much more fun doing it drunk in game with the swirly effects).
-- this would be extremely useful

How about a food store
Allowing us cooks to store those bits of recipes in progress:
Eg food/ parts- eg cookie dough etc — these are component parts which need to be combined with many other ingredients to get a final item.
Crafting toolbox
Somewhere to put all those intermediate items we are crafting before we get to the final item. It’s annoying selling a helm casing/sword component which you’ll use a few months later for a new toon.

YES, so much YES. My poor ele can’t even swap bags right now she’s so loaded down with random bread dough and soup stock.
Blade Shards please. This has been around for so long and still no storage spot!
Is there any point discussing the 250 limit on these slots? It’s great to have a dedicated slot for something but when it hits 250, what then? Is 250 a technical limit or an economic one? Could it ever be raised to 999 for example?

Sure you can…by purchasing the storage expansions with gems in the gemstore=/
Mystic Forge Stones,
PVP Arenanet Tokens,
Black Lion Chets,
Baubles (from SAB)
Continue Coins (from SAB)
Vision Crystals (Lesser and Normal),
Unidentified Fossilized Insects,
Mystic Keystone Crystals,
WvW BluePrints << This one would be awesome.

I have purchased the storage expansion, so I can store up to 500 of each store-able item. It’s still not enough. I love the suggestion to raise it to 999! I would even buy another store expansion to be able to do so!
+1 to all of the suggestions in this thread thus far! We’re drowning in mats!!!
All keys/crowbars/chan acids/auric basin keys etc…allowing auto opening of you have it in bank.
All keys need to be in a wallet.
Thanks for bringing this up.

MILLING BASIN
Milling basins are bought from the scribe vendor and are used by the other professions. Not having this have a storage slot would be as stupid as not allowing you do deposit silk thread.
Anything that says Crafting Material should have a deposit spot in my crafting material section. If I can use it to craft something I want to be able to save it to craft something.
Blade Shards please. This has been around for so long and still no storage spot!
This, please gods, this.
I love this thread dearly.
((A few items mentioned are currency and should go into the wallet. I have TONS of outdated currencies taking up slots that should also go in the wallet…))
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

+1 for being able to store the intermediate crafting stuff (I overdid it with the dowels and ended up selling them…)
Crafting storage can be already expanded multiple times with gems. I think the max is 1500 per item. If you have more than that then…. SELL some of it you crazy obsessive hoarding fool!

But my hoarde!! I need 2000+ of some things “just in case”.
Aether Keys
Aether Key Pieces
I never understood why dubloons aren’t treated like gems.
Those things for the mysterious vine backpieces: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mysterious_Vine
There are a lot of scavanger hunt pieces that need to be found – takes up so much room for a long-term quest.

You can purchase that expansion 3 times, for a total of 1000.
Edit: as per a previous post I just verified, you can now expand it to 1500.
Tenebrous Crystals
I’d like to second the guy that said sigils and runes. So tired of holding onto these things in my bank.
dilithium crystals
I’m sure there are more, but here are some crafting materials that need a spot in the “material storage” section of the bank.
-amalgamated gemstones
-essence of luck (100)
-doubloons
-unidentified dyes
Feel free to add to the list peeps.
I support the idea, but disagree with your list. Things should only be stored in “materials” if
- The primary use is as a crafting ingredient. (Example: foxfire cluster, recently moved.)
- If it has secondary use in crafting, it must be hoarded for some time before it can be used. (Example: four types of doubloons; still must be hoarded in bank/inventory.)
- If its primary use is as a vendor currency, it should be moved to the wallet instead. (Examples: geodes and bandit crests, recently moved to the wallet).
In contrast, if it has a primary value outside of crafting and isn’t used often in crafting or at vendors, then it should not go into the material vault. Examples include unID dyes (awkward if you accidentally “deposit all”) and essences of luck (any size).
Similarly, things used as “keys” should probably go into an account-bound “key ring” — there’s no reason folks with multiple characters should remember who has the silverwastes keys, who has the dry top ones, etc.
Finally, there are a number of intermediate items in the crafting process that don’t really have a good solution. This includes amalgamated gemstones, embellished jewels, dowels of all sorts, and base cooking substrates (such as baker’s dry or wet ingredients, salt & pepper, roux, …). I consider an item to be an “intermediate” if (a) it has no utility on its own, i.e. is used to craft other things, (b) it is required for lots of recipes, (.c) it’s likely that you’d want to stock up on these while leveling a craft or outfitting etc, and (d) one tends to produce more of these than needed right now (but one would like to keep them handy for the next time).
On the one hand, they aren’t strictly “materials” — they have been crafted from other items. On the other, aside from that, they function a lot like materials do. My suggestion: create a new tab in the account vault for these sorts of things and charge gems — it stacks as high as the materials storage; we would only pay once to unlock it. (This is to cover the cost of adding the mechanic.)
All keys/crowbars/chan acids/auric basin keys etc…allowing auto opening of you have it in bank.
I would say those just go in the wallet instead. I still don’t get why we don’t have keys/chest openers in the wallet (or even a separate thing that functions just like the wallet).
Please give us a keyring…

Somehow I missed this lol. I’m so happy to know it can be expanded! Thanks for the info!
Three more…
Fortune Scraps
Black Lion Claim Ticket
Black Lion Claim Ticket Scrap
Queen’s Gauntlet Entrance Tickets
Ellen Kiel Representation Buttons
Evon Gnasherblade Representation Buttons
Tonic Storage
We need somewhere to put our magical transformational tonics… there are so many of these tonics its starting to get a little crazy trying to find the right one.
These would include things like:
Selfless Potions, Wintersday Potions, Halloween Potions, Map Specific Potions (e.g. Monkey King Tonics), Elite Zone Potions (e.g. FOTM Tonic).
Last time I counted there are 64 tonics purchasable from the trading post.
There are many more which are account bound – that’s a lot of transformations.
Music Hall – Instruments
Somewhere to store all the musical instruments – e.g. Choir Bells, Harps etc etc etc…
—> Lots of these take up far too much room. (Not strictly a mat )
Gizmos
We need somewhere to put these little things :
Mawdry,
Ley-Line Energy Convertor,
Candy Corn Gobbler,
Karmatic Convertor,
Princess,
Star of Gratidue -etc

Buy 5 of them to have a 1500 stack limit (max)
Just checked there are: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Category:Gizmos – 174 different Gizmos
Proof Of Heroics
Reclaimed Metal Plate (These are traded to vendors for plated weapons)
Writs of Experience (They are useless on lvl 80 toons until we have 20 of them to trade in for a Tome of Knowledge)
Tome of Knowledge
The Gifts for legendary weapons:
e..g. Gift Of Metal / Gift of Fortune / Gift of Mastery / Gifts of Exploration
Unidentified Dyes
And here is a BIG one :
Boosters
All trading post boosters should be in a Trading Box slot (not a bank slot) –
e.g. Armor Boosters/Crafting Boosters/Enchanted Reward Boosters/Teleport to Friends/Revive Orbs/Boxes o’Fun / Trading Post Expresses / Self-Style Hair Kits / Total Makeover Kits / Black Lion Keys / WvW boosters / Experience Scrolls etc
Toy Box
All those fun ‘toys’ that we have been purchasing:
Aviator’s Memory Box / Executioner Toy / Baloon Water Fight toy etc

Pretty sure you can expand the slots to 1500 for each.. I am currently sitting at 1000.
Bank slot stacks are however limited to 250

Rata Novus Writ of Excellence : http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Rata_Novus_Writ_of_Excellence
One more:
Shark Fins (Cooking Ingredient)
Fractal Research Pages — why on earth I have to put this in the bank/swap toons is beyond me and make sure my toon has it (It only gives out one per account). Its really easy to lose.
TONICS. GOD PLEASE TONICS!
Another one:
Finite Wings – its a slavaging mat – http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Finite_Wings
Solution: Finite Result
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Solution:_Finite_Result
Its annoying as its ‘white’ and could easily be destroyed – not good. Its a very expensive item to purchase.
I second the need for being able to bank the new map chest keys. Wasn’t too bad with just dry top and sw but with 4 new maps plus of course shovels lesser and greater keys of nightmares also for sw I have about 10 slots taken up purely just for those few maps.
Making the keys for opening chests bankable would be brilliant.
Hell even introducing a “key ring” item that you could gain from doing something like the karka hunt we did for princess would be good so it takes up one slot instead of 6 currently and could be added to as new maps appear. You could then load the keyring up and the keys would be consumed as you opened chests, kind of in the same way map currency became bankable and is consumed directly from your wallet.
Other than that all the kitten scribing materials that are cluttering up my bank and bags…. these need to be bankable.
People should explain if it’s a MATERIAL or a TOKEN
