Q:

tl;dr: LS: F&F, is it still live or did I miss it. How can I start the quest?
——————————————————————-
Hi fellow Guild Wars 2 players,

I’m a recent returned player and while I browse through Guild Wars 2 wiki and forum, I encountered this interesting new content, Living Story: Flame and Frost.

After few search here and there and Google, I couldn’t find a definite answer for my question. Does Living Story: Flame and Frost still “Live”? Meaning, can I still do it or did I miss my opportunity with it.

If I missed it, that’s a shame, I just like the change of pace aside from dynamic event, heart mission, WvW and personal story. Don’t get me wrong, they are all fun, but this Living Story concept is definitely interesting.

So if I didn’t miss it, how do I start it? The wiki is a bit of confusing, I did read it few times, but if you guys could actually give me a quick start on how to start the quest, that would be awesome!

A:

Sorry, the flame and frost content of the living story has ended and is no longer available (whether it may come back as playable content in future is currently unconfirmed).

The living story has moved on to the two content updates focussing on Southsun Cove – this part of the story, achievements and rewards are available for a few more days yet – the event ends on 10th/11th June. So if you want to take part in those parts of the living story there is still some time.

I recommend you visit dulfy.net to have a look at her guides to the content and pick out the bits that you might want to do if your time is limited. Although it should be possible to complete all the achievements and tasks for this part of the story in the few days that you have left.

You missed, Flame and Frost, but if you hurry you can still do the next chapter of the living story which takes place in Southsun Cove. The living story isn’t going away…that’s why it’s living. lol

All Flame and Frost content was only available between January 28th and May 14th. This means, that you can’t do any of F&F’s content anymore.

And really, to all the people complaining about it: The living story is supposed to keep you playing. If you missed it, it’s your fault, the time windows during which you could do the specific content are large enough.

I don’t believe the OP was complaining and I don’t think it’s anyone’s fault. I think the OP was just interested in the Living Story. Fortunately, the story continues.

Thanks everyone!

Yeah, I was just interested in the story. I guess I also misunderstood the concept of living story, so it’s a story that constantly moving forward. I was under the impression of the story will keep expanding BUT also keep the old content, so player who didn’t do it the first round can still have a chance to do it.

That’s ok though I was just looking for a change of pace haha. Are all Living Story linked? or is this Southsun Cove is a standalone Living Story?

Thanks!

They are all linked. It is not brilliant storytelling but the link is there. Basically the people forced out by frost and flame where forced to work on Southsun. Various fuzzy things happen and we are where a giant Karka attacks every once in a while. Next leg of the story is unknown.

Thanks everyone!

The stories are indirectly linked. Like the Flame and Frost story told of an alliance between the dredge and the flame legion shaman. The Flame Legion is more of a magical race, where as the dredge are technological. Together they were building weapons that mixed both…and were testing them on norn and charr (the traditional enemies of the two races).

They destroyed some steadings and small towns, and there were refugees that had no place to go. The refugees are the link to Southsun Island.

There’s a corporation called the Consortium, sort of a bad guy big business types who bought Southsun Island to use as a resort, without checking it out too thoroughly. The monsters there make it a bad bad location for a resort.

So they offered the refugees jobs and homes on the island, but they got them to sign contracts that don’t allow them to leave, and the refugees are mad about it. kitten mad. In addition some animals have become crazed, more wild than before and no one knows why. Inspecter Kiel of the Lionguard has been sent to investigate.

That’s the setup for Southsun and the connection between the two.

Wow, thanks for all these info! Now I got it!

I’m only level 60 atm, so perhaps I need to level up more before I attempt Southsun Cove, I saw post saying Southsun Cove is really hard, I assume it’s a level 80 content..

Be very cafeful around the karka, drakes and welll everything on the island. You are capable of survival since I did it on a lvl 60 thief and lvl 60 necro but these are not your usual mobs.

Thanks for the heads up! I’m a AH Build Guardian, but I solo most of the time, so not sure how much AH would help me in this case, I just turn 60 and gears are just green from TP. My first and only character, so I don’t have the spare coins to pimp myself yet haha.

Oh my gears are green indeed, but I upgrade them every 5 levels, probably won’t make that much of a difference, but better than nothing lol.
