Living Story - Season 1 - Expansion Box
43 views and no response? What is wrong with most of you? lol
I guess everyone is happy with how Living Story works out right now.
We don’t get enough content every 2 weeks…
But if we had an expansion worth of season 1 – I think it would be enough and better for players to play at their own pace.
Well, I wouldn’t pay for it, but maybe some others would. Is this content all instanced? How do you find others to play it with (only those that had purchased it would be eligible), or is it all solo? Wouldn’t it sort of divide the playerbase into ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’?
Many people complain that there is too much content released bi-weekly, but others (like yourself) seem to think there isn’t enough. I don’t know what the answer is. I, personally, am satisfied with how the Living Story/World is progressing.
I was thinking exactly the same.
After 48 days without being able to play and miss 2 updates already (not counting the ones I missed last year), I don’t see the point to do any further LS content.
However I don’t think this is going to happen. I support the idea but I lost faith in this game long ago. After all, GW2 have become a game that punish player for not playing and turning temporal content into permanent content is against that.
At most we will get more poorly implemented fractals but I’m pretty sure that is all.

I wouldn’t pay for this previous LS and neither future ones because so far it’s been really bad.
What you are saying though would be a good idea and it would be possible. However they don’t want to do stuff like this so don’t count on it. They want it to be like a TV series.

I missed an entire year of LS, and jumped back in no problem!
It’s not like your reward on the next LS is less because you didnt complete the previous one.
As for the story, there’s plenty of ways to catch up online. If I’m honest, I felt the same as you, then I looked at the achievements and realised it’s ok to jump into the LS at any time, and you won’t feel left behind.

At the OP, I really don’t think thats a feasible idea. I just can’t see how that would work. If they solo’d it, they’d have to change alot ..and I think that would just encourage more people to play alone.

Except for the achievements and reward you missed. Yes, most rewards are crap (I have like 5 backpack I’m not going to use ever) but the achievements unlock pretty good rewards.
Yes, I can jump and play it without problems but the problem is I hate missing things (unlike many, I don’t stop playing because I wanted, but because I couldn’t).
And if I’m to ignore what I missed, then why should I bother to do what is coming next?

lol no one would buy it.

I think there should totally be a way to replay season 1, but for free: Suggestion: Storybooks for LW PS Dungeons
Although, they could theoretically, take that system and charge gems for access to the LS.
There’s a reason why the content given in bi weekly updates is free.
If I’m going to pay for an expansion or campaign I expect a few things from this list; new weapons/skills, new professions, new dungeons, new story, and new lands/continents.
Most of the stuff in the LW is filler and I don’t bother with half of it. Occasionally if they have a title or back item that I think is nice I’ll grind for it but that’s becoming less frequent as I’d rather just play the game and not grind.
Do you think it would be a good idea for ArenaNet to make their Living Story – Season 1 into an Expansion as a bundle so that all players can enjoy the experience all contents from the begging to the end at their own pace?
I want to be able to experience the Living Story from the beginning to the end at my own pace with different characters. I enjoy lots of instances and cutscenes and I want to be able to play them with friends.Do you think it would be possible?
Do you think it’s a good idea?
I think it’s a good idea. Now that we see season 2 in action (which is why I believe this topic is bump worthy) it makes perfect sense to repackage season 1 as a complete set (or in parts). Especially as new players continue adding to the game and season 1 falls further into the past I think more people will be interested in reliving some of those old adventures.
I am totally down with a season 1 release, no matter what form. I think that Anet would love to do that too. However the implementation of season 1 with the Story Journal and the persistant replay ability is the largest hurdle to jump when trying to figure out a way to do that.

Wouldn’t it sort of divide the playerbase into ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’.
It already is. If someone buys the game today they’ll have to pay for the first two episodes of session 2 so I don’t see it being a problem. I’d pay if I have too, but I’ve already played 95% of session 1 so if I felt the price was too high I’d just not bother.

Considering this thread is Necroed, and when first posted, we had no information about how the Journal would work, or even if there would be a Journal, any speculations made at that time are no longer valid. No one knew that obtaining the ‘paid’ Episodes would be available at no cost. Or that there would be instances…or anything, really.
I would love for season 1 to be re-released in a way that allows players to effectively complete content together. I would even be alright with paying a modest amount of gems for the content.
However, I would be quite unhappy with having to whip out some cash or the ol’ credit card to obtain this feature. Thus a traditional “expansion” is not what I want.
New content should be free. Old content should either be free or unlockable for a reasonable amount of gems. Adding a cash expansion would ruin the “pay once for all the features of the game and then you’re done!” advertisement and would certainly alienate a large percentage of the community, no matter how popular such a release would be to the remaining percentage of players.
I dont see how Season 1 would work in the way Season 2 would work. A complete rework would be required = waste of time for Anet
An expansion, sure. Calling LS1 one is a huge lie.
They could release a sort of modified LS1 on the gemstore if people want to replay through that, but don’t call it an expansion.
And if you look at LS1, it was nothing but a huge farm.
They alreay mentioned during the Journal release that they aim to make LS1 available again but for now there are too much technical/programming limitations.

Tell me what have you missed? I’m curious?
I could have sworn I posted in this thread when it first went around. Probably deleted since it would have been pretty far from constructive.
I think it isn’t a bad idea but I wouldn’t buy it. Not because I didn’t like LS1 (loved it) but because I’ve already done it. Unless they add some new stuff in it.
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
