Some people have previously brought up the fact that even after you cleanse Orr and kill Zhaitan, Orr is still filled with undead. While some have, rightfully, argued that it’s not that easy to cleanse a place under these kind of circumstances, others have brought up that it’s just another flaw of an MMO and that they really wished ANet had found a way to get around it, as they seemed to have promised.

I’ve just noticed something today in Orr.

I went hunting for some Orichalcum and at Blighted Arch Waypoint, in Malchor’s Leap, where there are usually spiders and a Giant escorted by Risen Raptors I found something new – Ice Elementals. I don’t remember ever seeing Ice Elementals in Orr before this.

I figured maybe I had seen them before somewhere and just forgot about them, afterall there have always been Earth and Air Elementals around. I’ve also been seeing a lot more Spirits of XXXX around.

Just now I was at Penitent Camp and was talking in /guild when I noticed something else I’d never seen before – a flock of tropical birds. A few hours ago I had seen a tropical bird land near Penitent, but I put it down to someone’s Pirate Runes. This was an actual flock of about 20 birds flying around in the skies just out the front of Penitent. And they certainly weren’t Risen Eagles (which never fly in flocks anyway), they are pinkish-red birds.

Is Orr coming back to life? Is the world slowly changing?

That would be awesome, if they added little changes to Orr with each update and slowly restored it.

But at the same time I’d feel a bit bad for all the people getting the game later or taking longer to get to Orr who would never see it as it was.

It would be kitten fine if it was.

@Danikat If the choice is between Orr never changing or missing what Orr was, which do you think is the funner or better decision? If Orr never changed, Orr would never be special. If Orr changed, old Orr would become that much better in memory.

And if Orr changed before someone start playing? If all of the world changes slowly, where’s the problem? They’ll have their own Orrs that they get to know but get changed so they don’t stay stale and show some actual growth in the world, a key promise about GW2 that was made but failed to deliver.

Assuming it does slowly get re-done. If GW2 suddenly turned into the living world I was told it was, I’d be pretty kitten enthusiastic.

Maybe they’d even turn dynamic events from every-20-minutes repetitious miniquests to plotted events that played out much more slowly and with greater reward. I wouldn’t mind completing a DE chain ten times if it took me three months to do so and actually changed the state of a region for more than the ten minutes it took to reset and become undone when no one’s around to complete the ‘repel the invaders!’ events indefinitely, at least for that week or something.

This actually made me happier. Ever since I finished storyline on one character I was thinking why there was nothing happening because very many people had done storyline by then. And now that i hear these news i’m happy. Good going Anet, hope we will see some changes more and more.

What I hope Anet considers someday is creating a separate map for each of the three Orr zones that you can only access if you have beaten the personal story. It would give people more incentive to complete the story and see what different content it offers now, while still keeping the option of farming the Orr zones with all the undead like you used to.
