Living World Season 1 - Please bring it back!

Hello all. As a player that bought GW2 in the middle of Season 1, I had no idea what on earth all those events were so most of the time I just did my own thing and tried to stick to my personal story, as I didn’t understand a thing.

Now, a year later, Season 2 has been released and I’m patiently (but eagerly) waiting for the Heart of Thorns!

The problem is, I never understood why this “scarlett” figure plays such an important role in the Guild Wars world. Yes, I can read summaries but it’s not the same. Reading is not the same as experiencing a character.

So I looked up Season 1 and noticed that Arena Net somewhere said they were bringing Season 1 back. I was simply wondering if this is still the case or not.

(For the record, saying that the global zerg spam-fests make it impossible for them to bring it back, I beg to differ. They could easily make it map-instance and dramatically lower the difficulty so that it becomes solo-able.)

I think Arena should make a “mini” season one for new players to experience to get to know Scarlet in a personal level. Remove the zerg content, make small group instances that are soloable. Going from her introduction at the Queen Pavilion to her destruction of lion’s arch to her final defeat. Just 3 episode.

They probably do have some people working on it, but it’s not likely high on their priority list.

Even though I played all of season 1 I still feel they need to give everyone access to it, personally I think Arenanet shot themselves in the foot with this one, I remember thinking to myself during season 1 that this isn’t going to end well when new players join the game late and have missed content that is no longer available, if I had been late to this game I would have just quit it pretty fast over this issue alone, tbh it probably does account for a lot of people leaving the game.

It’d be very cool if they do some kind of replay season one till we get the expansion-pack.
They could just bring an episode of LS season 1 every thuesday.
That would be so cool while waiting for expansion!

They explained that Living season one would return in the same vein as season two (i.e. episodic content at around 200 gems apiece). A timeline as to when this would occur was not given.
“Also, because Season 1 of Living World was not built with the Journal in mind, it will not be available in the story Journal on initial launch when Season 2 begins. We do hope to add Season 1 to the Journal in the future”

they can’t bring it back as it was. It had a totally different game structure than season 2. Season 1 was very often based on mass event in the open world…very few things were actually instanced. Just think about the Marionette fight that required almost an entire map (comparable to the Vinewrath fight currently in Silverwastes) or the Battle for LA, where you had to kill 3 legendary bosses at the same time to get to Scarlet. Killing her hologram also required almost a full map etc.

I think it won’t be possible to bring back season 1 as it was.

That is very interesting! I just hope we won’t have to pay for it on release, but we can unlock it (like Season 2 worked).

Yeah they will very likely bring it back, but there will be difference. I don’t think this should be expected until a long time after Heart of Thorns though.

I’m all for it!

I am also looking forward to seeing season 1 also. I stopped playing during the lost shores event so very very early on and have returned only last week. I have no doubt we will need to pay for it especially considering how much they are going to have to do to rework it. I just hope for two things.

First, I hope they will offer a package price. A discount for buying all episodes at once.

Second, I hope that it will be, as much as possible, playable. I would love to see the instances that once were there and would be willing to pay extra for them.

To scale it down to be soloable isn’t viable or easy to do . Time and resources are needed committing to make it fit properly – this would be a siginficant time investment, one that needs undertaking for new players, but also one unlikely to happen with an expansion round the corner.

They may yet surprise us with it prior to HoT, but my expectation is that it will never happen
