Sorry if this has already been answered, but what is this exactly? From what I understand there was a Season 1, and we are currently in Season 2?

In my story tab I see season 2, but it doesn’t unlock until I reach 80 according to it.

I just got into Guild Wars 2 a little over a week ago, and was curious.

Living World Season 1 isn’t replayable like Living Story Season 2. The content was only available during the few weeks that it was “happening.” The idea behind the Living World was that if you weren’t online in Tyria while it was happening, then you just weren’t a part of it.

Season Two is over, but you can unlock the Episodes for 200 Gems each. The story will pick up with the release of Heart of Thorns, the up-coming expansion.

As noted above, you can learn about the Living Story/Living World in the wiki, including how to access the story (at no cost), and/or information about what you may have missed.

Welcome to Tyria, and happy adventuring. =)

And of course by a few weeks you mean over a year.

Except that your role in it is assumed whenever material refers to previous events.

Quite a bit over a year, if I recall correctly.

The original idea of having a world that actually progressed was problematical. People felt rushed and complained about it. People went away on vacations and didn’t want to miss stuff. People came back to the game and couldn’t figure out what was going on.

So, due to complaints, Anet changed how they did things and made season 2, which has far less complaints than season 1 had.

Pretty sure none of the episodes were available for more than a few weeks, so yep he got it right the first time.

To OP: I would recommend reading up on season 1 on the wiki and then unlocking S2 once you hit level 80. The episodes cost 200 gems each (there are 8 of them), and remember there is also a gold to gem conversion so you can use gold to unlock them if you don’t have the money to pay (though it will take a while to get enough gold)

I’ll probably just fork over the cash for the season 2 episodes, I don’t mind supporting the devs for making such a great game.

He said season 1 was a few weeks. Each episode was at least 2 weeks, and often more. I don’t know how you can claim he was right by saying Season 1 happened over a few weeks…

Don’t argue just to argue. You and I both know season 1 was more than a few weeks.

My point was that all of Season 1 took place over the course of 1yr+. If we want to be technical I’m sure we could look up exactly how many weeks it was when you take breaks out of it. I’m too lazy to do that, but I know for a fact it is over ten weeks.
