Loading screen arts getting worse?
Unfortunately, one of the old loading screen artist (Kekai Kotaki) left Anet.
Theo Prins who’s done most of the new loading screen likes doing abstract art.

Sadly, it’s here to stay…
Note: Not saying he’s a bad artist, but I personally don’t like his style, as well.
The main thing I dislike about the new art is how it clashes with the old. It doesn’t fit the game’s art style.
Well that’s just like, your opinion, man.
I wondered why both Dry Top and Kessex Hills screens look so weird. I mean it barely looks like anything to do with the map. Please stop doing abstract screens as they aren’t as good compared to the other GW loading screens. I really despise looking at them.

I agree that it doesn’t quite fit with other parts of the games art style, which I’m surprised by as overall both GW and GW2 have had very cohesive art direction.
I do like Theo’s work though, and in particular I was quite surprised by the Dry Top loading screen, I really like the feel it gives.
I’m not a huge fan of the new loading screens either. They’re not bad, they just jar my aesthetic sensibility.
On one hand I like Sanctum Sprint’s loading screen, on the other hand I have no idea why they’re building a space port on top of Kessex Hills.
I wouldn’t say worse, I would say the aesthetics is shifting from more detailed to less detailed / abstract. Some people are into that short of thing. Worse is just subjective. Although I’d personally prefer more detailed artwork myself.
I was left with the impression that Dociu did the loading screen art. Am I wrong?

Good to know I’m not the only one who thinks it’s a space port.

He also did some of the old ones. Don’t think he’s done any of the new ones.
You can scan through here to look at who’s responsible for what (no idea how accurate or up to date it is, but I think it’s ok).
Theo isn’t solely responsible for all the new art, though you’ll definitely know which was his and which aren’t. It’s really obvious compared to the others.

Also, be wary of quaggan overload if you visit Kekai Kotaki’s page.
Hi everyone,
