Either lock skills completly if a target is out of range or reduce the cooldown for an out of range used skill please. The current way that a skill just shots and gets a full cooldown is no fun.

It’s not always easy to determine game distance. It’s better to just be cut off for being wrong, rather then punished with a wiff and full cd.

Usually I would be against this, but seeing as how buggy LoS can be in this game I think it is a must, unless LoS is fixed.

It’s pretty common to accidentally brush my finger against a neighboring key when firing a skill, only to find that said key was for a skill that isn’t yet in range, and then be locked out of that skill for a full cooldown/recharge period when I really need it. This has led directly to my death more times than I can remember.

There’s so much to pay attention to during battle, particularly for certain professions, that expecting the player to watch the out-of-range indicators and his fingers and each key on the keyboard while watching what enemies and allies are doing is just too much. Simply removing the cooldown on a skill that couldn’t possibly connect would significantly reduce this user interface problem.

yes please. As a thief my steal goes off causing a cooldown. As an engineer, my grenades miss entirely causing a cooldown. As a ranger ….well you get the picture.

I like how in a PvP match I can force them to use up the full animation of a sword swing to miss because I backed away. They can also use miss a full sword swing coming in too early. I can also get a good sword swing by starting slightly early.

This might work only if it were applied to ranged attacks, but projectiles have speed. What would do the calculations? What I wanted to shoot an orb of light (guardian staff 2) at an enemy 1500 range away, because the enemy was coming right at me?

They uses to have a range indication during the beta, the key-bind shown at your skill would show white when in range and red out of range, too bad they got rid of it. but really it rewards people for knowing the range of their abilities and punishes those that don’t, promotes better play imo so i’m not in support of this.

I’d be against something like this simply because you wouldn’t be able to show off skills outside of combat anymore

They could make it an option which you can turn on and off, though. Only it would automatically be off in pvp for previously stated reasons.

We still have this, only it’s a small red line under your skills when they’re out of range and they disappear when in range.
