Well, since you’ve already closed down all argument by saying you’re right and it doesn’t matter what anyone else says, why should anyone respond to you?
I find that I play different professions quite differently. I’m not sure why you’re not finding that.
I think of lot of this has to do with perspective. Players who focus on mechanics will always see the gears that make the whole thing tick. Players that focus on immersion or RPing will see the same thing completely differently.
I’m not sure any one side has a monopoly on truth.
I am with Nage on this. Yes I think the game is a bit boring atm, but not because of the combat mechanic, but because I quite simply need a break and things seem less intresting after the living story ended.
I play this game for story and the art, it could have almost any mechanics as long as they were easy to approach.
I don’t care if you call me a blind fan but I have reasons to disagree.
First of all, I have noticed since I started playing this game (At 3 days head start) that the devs for this game is listening to the community more than any other MMO I have played. I have also noticed that Anet does pretty much everything that the community wants, but I guess your problem is that they don’t do what you want.
I love the idéa that there is no trinity, I like the battle mechanics in this game compared to other MMO-rpgs where most of the battles are pretty stationary.
I can agree that with no Trinity we get the problem with Zerg Meta and rushing/stacking but this is something I am sure Anet is working on as we speek but I am pretty sure it’s not just that easy and I am also sure they wont give in and implement that stupid Trinity system and make this game to another bad clone of other MMO-rpgs.
Until then if you think it is so booring pressing 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1 try build your classes with other stats and try out some new traits… Try to build your own Build and se how it works.
‘My friends left and I am too’ : Well maby it’s like this; they are your friends, you and your friends share more or less the same interests and pretty much agree with much you say to eachother. Many of my friends have left also but they like a different type of games than I do, Though I still have lots of friend still in this game and they share the same interest that I do.
Also don’t base statistics on what is said on the forums… Most people who likes the game iether don’t bother to comment on posts like this or they rather play the game than spending their time on the forums. On the other hand, people that are displeased but like the game voice their opinions on the forums and with that it sounds like the game is just bad everywhere.

No matter how you change traits or do anything it wont change the fact you are still auto attack killing mobs as warrior (excluding orr) in the 99% of the time. And no trying to perform to do better is not needed…it kind of performs as well as dodging and jumping and healing and kitten….
If you truly want aachange in what yo are dooing yyou need a certaint trit build with certaint gear and stats and food and kitten…without those conditions (that are takes time even after 80 , like farming epic kittens in wow or dunno what they do now, but atleast there you can change to dps from healer without them….but here you cant) you will still do the same 3-4 kitten …..

Because there’s only one profession in this game, and it’s warrior.
If you’re bored on a warrior, try a different profession. See if you can 1 your way through the entire game on an ele.
The combat system is boring? Not in my book. After playing GW2 I went to try FFXIV:ARR and I couldn’t bear the slowness of the combat there. If this is boring, I don’t know what that is.

I dunno how you play, but I have to go 1-3-F1-5-1-7-1-4-F1-§-1-2-4-(8)-§ when I play my Zerker warrior… Sure I can go 1-1-1-1-1 and still survive when fighting one or two regular enemies at a time but at the end i still need the other skills. In dungeons I would be hated if I don’t use my knockdowns, shouts and banner or if I die becouse I didn’t use endure pain.
In other MMO’rpgs with trinity, when I play a dps hunter I stand away and press Macro-Macro-Macro-Macro-Macro-Macro.
When I play healer I watch the UI and goes Full heal(Tank(s)), HoT(Tank(s)), Small heal(Tank(s)), HoT(Tank(s)), Full Heal(Tank(s)), Group heal and move if needed.
When play Tank I mostly stand my ground or pulling boss to specific location and/or agro incomming trash. So… all in all the one who does something realy tough is the Tank.
I as in me I am realy tired of the same old Trinity and I am so pleased with what Anet have done with GW2 battle, I was sceptic at the beginning but now I am pretty happy with it even though I feel there can be more work to it.

Ranting about removing something that was never there to begin with? – clever.
There’s a multitude of cookie-cutter, trinity MMOs out there…perhaps you should try one of those instead as it appears you’re not at home with GW2.
Outside of a few issues (Defiant), the problem isn’t with the combat system; it’s the encounters not encouraging people to look at what other tools they have to hand, either by being non-existent or not being enforced enough.
The sad thing is, if ANet developed a dungeon like that, rather than trying to adapt, a lot of people would simply yell that the encounter is too OP, and it needs to be nerfed. After all, humans are creatures of habit.
As for classes feeling the same, I’d have to argue that it’s the same in any Trinity MMO as well: You press buttons in a certain rotation, and then activate long cooldown abilities at the right time. Rinse and repeat. Even healing in it’s simplest form can be surmised as a DPS race in the reverse direction.
Oh, and on your ‘lolstatistics’, forums tend to be a place where more negativity than positivity comes out, thus don’t tend to be a place where the findings would be somewhat biased. Also, X of your friends is a) nowhere near a large enough sample size and b) anecdotal. I could quite easily say that 27 of my friends are still playing, and it wouldn’t mean jack.
Not arguing that people don’t find the combat boring, but making up ‘lolstatistics’ to support your point is just pointless.

The only thing missing from making it to 100 is 1, and that’s they key most people use in this game. Thankfully the trait rework addressed this issue, no wait, that was some other game I was thinking of :P
Don’t get me wrong I did use my other skills but I’d always get to a point and usually early on in this game where I’d just go “Eff it!” and just hit 1 until we’d get to a champ or boss, something I’d never do in the prequel. I think it’s just because at the end of the day the skills in this game are much less fun (for me at least). Look at elites, I couldn’t wait to get them initially but when I finally did I kept waiting for some unlock while I levelled that would make them actually elite. This unlock never happened
As they are, most elite skills could be renamed as Bozo skills. They have been designed with flashiness instead of competence in mind I think. I mean, if they had a sniper profession in this game, it’s elite skill would be a neon disco aoe effect to give away your position, a close range stabby one or a pet.

The combat system is fine – if you don’t like it and feel it is boring I suggest you take a look at other MMOs and see what stale and boring mean.
The active dodge and fluid combat in this game are something that most MMOs lack – and if you feel that’s wrong then by all means feel that way – nobody is forcing you to play.
Also – post all the statistics ( especially the ones you like making up ) that you want – the majority likes this game ( you said it yourself indirectly) – so perhaps those who hate the combat system should ask themselves if this is the game they want to play.

All these elites can turn the tide pretty massively and are wonderfull skills.

The problem is imo, personal taste. I to be honest enjoy FF14arr’s combat a lot. The late game raids have some very very hard mechanics. Raiding in that game is really fun. Again imo. All this while i don’t enjoy GW2’s dungeons anymore. Some of them have very nice mechanics but on one side it’s been a year and a half so stuff gets boring after a while. On the other side tho, there’s the whole stack “issue” (if I may call it like that) that in most cases trivializes most bosses. To contribute to everything it might also be true that FF14’s dungeons don’t allow progression until everything is cleared, but the monsters are real trash that dies fast and drops nice stuff. I’ve gotten more pink drops while playing that game for 2 months than I’ve gotten exotics in 2 years while playing gw2.
GW2’s classes are fine (unbalanced but fine) regarding uniqueness. It’s the content that doesn’t really force you to learn your class better and doesn’t force you to use more skills than 1.
