We’re a little over halfway through the year, and we felt it was time to give you an update on where we stand, where we’re going, and discuss in more detail some of the systems you’ll see in the second half of 2013.

This has been said by Colin Johansen in July.

We have one update coming next week (12th), where we will see the tower of the krait and some stuff as posted on the website. We will most definitely see the class balance changes on december the 10th as we can see from all of the discussions.

We have only 2 to 3 Update to go this year. The 26th of november, the 24th of december and perhaps the dec the10th with more than the balance changes. From the promised content for Guild Wars 2 in 2013 we still lack: (quotes from the news)

We’ll begin regularly adding new skills and traits to the game for each profession to expand your characters and builds! You will be able to earn these new traits and skills by unlocking them. To go along with this, we’ll expand the content and options to earn skill points to help encourage players to experience different challenges and content throughout the world. These skills and traits will be designed to be balanced with the existing skills/traits we currently have in the game, and will simply compliment and expand the range of abilities and tactics available to each profession.

I sincerly hope, the one healing skill the last patch offered is not all meant by this.

At 500, crafters will be able to craft ascended weapons and armor. Once you reach 500, a new tier of crafting materials will be available to you; this new tier of materials will be made by combining lower tier materials.

We do know the weapons and I expect the armor to arrive in december. No?

We aren’t quite ready to go into all the details here, but what I can say is you will see a specific way to build precursor items on your way to a legendary.

Colin already said, we will probably not see craftable precursors in 2013. What he did not say was: will all legendarys get this option, or will only new legendarys get them? Weapons at all? Some confirmation would be welcome.

On top of this, you’ll also see new legendary weapons and new types of legendary gear in 2013.

Is this so? Will we see them with the remaining patch options this year?

This is no ranting, no complaining, just remembering. Please give us a new actual teaser what to expect when. We also heard about new weapons, after we get current weapons offered for more classes as they are now. And I think you should know by now, if or when to expect an expansion. 2014?

This didn’t resonate well with some players for a variety of reasons. We’re comparing external feedback with our own, since we have plans for Trahearne and other existing characters in future live updates and expansion content. We won’t spoil what we’re discussing, other than to say we’re looking at many different options for his current implementation and beyond.

I know this is no promise, but as you know hope dies last.

Please give us some new blog or news what and when we can expect the things offered earlier and hinted at during the year. Thank you.

Just stack up materials just as you would if you were planning to build a legendary or ascended weapons. I would definitely recommend that you stack a lot of dragonite ingot, empyreal star and bloodstone brick. It is the only safe bet to prepare yourself for the future release of ascended armor and legendaries. Don’e expect precursor building to be any easier than now. They definitely do not want 50% of the game population having one.

Well based on another dev post, they said that they do not wish to upset the balance during WvW Season 1 (thus why the next balance patch is Dec 10th). I’d assume that on Dec 10th (or later in Dec) is when we will gain:

New skills/traits, ascended armor, and the new fractals

Ascended armor could come sooner, but I think they would have previewed it and/or they think it will upset some builds. Another possibility is that they have taken the harsh feedback from ascended weapons are are rethinking any number of things. (Should they have higher stats? the amount of mats required to make them? time gated mats for them? should we even introduce them? etc.)

While they said all crafting to 500, I wonder if they will include jeweler and chef this year, or if it will be pushed back to early next year.

As for new legendaries, I believe the same post that said precursor crafting was the most likely to be delayed into next year also said the same thing for new legendaries. And I’ve seen people post about the first new legendary item is going to be one of the trinkets (I don’t have a source for that, and I can’t remember which item, maybe the amulet?).

Also just as a reminder, they did say that anything can be subject to change. I agree that an update would be nice, but I don’t expect one until the end of this year/start of next year (a big blog post every 6 months or so is what I expect).

If it is the only new skill offered this year, this “promise” will have been kept. “We will begin …” After all, regularly could mean “every three months or so.”
