My main is a guardian, I play a support/semi tanky build works great for in guild group fractuals/dungeons, but I’m looking for a pure rdps class and wondering whats the best proff to play purely ranged, on a side note i do wvw,pvp but I’m mostly a pve player. I was thinking bout the ranger but everything i hear is that SB and LB are bad and ranger builds that are the best are either beast master or melee builds, so I guess I’m just looking for some insight on the best proff builds for pure rdps pve

Don’t play ranged. You’ll be out of range of party buffs and be genrally weaker than the rest of your party.

Engineer with grenades are very powerful at long range probably the best at long range, GS and/or Staff mesmers are also very effective.

you dont have to stack to get party boons, and you dont have to play at 1500 range to do rdps, so playing a rdps proff can still be done at medium range and still getting party boons, my quesion was whats the best pure rdps proff

yes GS mesmer is def a class im looking at possibly getting into

If you are insisting on range, scepter Guardian is actually very powerful in pve. Smite is the highest Dps skill in the game again when used against an enemy large enough to be hit by all the ticks.

Then you get all the usual Guardian goodies such as conditions removal and reflects.

Just make sure you’ve wearing zerker gear.
Scepter Guardian is also a great synergy with unscathed contender for 20 percent dmg.

I like staff ele, gs mes, staff mes (depending on the situation), and lb ranger as ranged options.

I’m still building my guardian, but scepter seems decent on it.

Engineer is the only class that you can maximize your potential with while staying ranged (using the grenade kit). Necros may be an exception with axes…but necros are a tough sell on a lot of groups.

Mesmers can do ok with a greatsword, but really, they’re best when they use melee with a sword. However, not only does the sword deal more dps than a greatsword on its own, but you’re also forced to either lose dps by either sitting at max range with the GS and missing out on boons or by sitting in range of boons and missing out on the damage from extra range.

Remember that boons have a range of 600, meaning that if you’re too far away from melee, you’ll lose a lot of effectiveness.

I asked the exact same question about a Year Ago or so. I ended up rolling a Mesmer. I currently switch between three classes : Warrior, Guardian & Mesmer. Tried the others and felt them to be lacking.
