Looking to come back.
Joke (that was promptly removed by a mod. Impressive job, guys, it didn’t even have time to get old), yeah, the game’s still going strong. Just don’t do what I’m doing right now and don’t dwell in the forums too much, or you’ll end up on hiatus again in no time. Basically, the forums consist in a tiny number of valid points getting lost in an ocean of bullkitten.

There’s one of these threads every couple of days and all the answers can be boiled down to Yes, No, Maybe.
Do you want WvW? Check the server leaderboard thing for a high ranked server. If you want PvE but need to see other people constantly then aim for one of the higher population servers but three are full now. Guesting is an excellent feature if you need company or need to do high player participation content.
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?

Excellent, thanks for the responses. I strolled through a few pages and tried to look for a thread like this before posting one that I’m assuming has been constant in the past months. I apologize for that. I’m looking to be more PvE oriented currently and around a decent amount of players. I like social interactions, it makes the game fun.
Try to find a good guild. Take your time to find the right one. Also, maybe smell around for which server might serve you best, if only in terms of the amount of players on them. When I say the game is going strong in numbers, I’m not lying, but also keep in mind that I’m on one, if not “the” most populated NA server.
beside some obscure asian games I have no clue about, this MMORPG probably has the biggest community short of WoW. I have no idea about your level, but you may find starter zones rather empty though. Most people have probably moved beyond them.
Ah, cool. @Lydell. Point taken and noted. To add, I played GW1 since release and many many years following until GW2 came out. At first, I was saddened by how different it was to GW1. It didn’t have the “Guild Wars feel” to it, imo. But it has definitely come a long way in the making. I mainly stopped playing because I couldn’t enjoy the game in the graphical depth that I wanted. Finally gots me a new computer to have some fun with.
Since your account is still open you’ll still be on the server you ended with last time. I assume, anyway. Keep your eyes open for when one of the current full servers drops from full if you feel the need to transfer.

Nice! I don’t think I got too far, I don’t remember too clearly. All is well though. I don’t mind leveling. I tend to train through levels.

Good information, thanks. I think I chose one of the higher pop servers. I shall see.
If you didn’t progress too far, it might be more worth your coin to just delete your characters and pick again from scratch.
Another thing. A lot of people are focused on a few areas. There’s a looking for group tool now for dungeons and it fills fast, so you might not see much in it. There’s a bunch of people still trying to retake Lion’s Arch (and that ends in a week).
I’m headed back from a 3-month stint in World of Warcraft.
The amount of content Arenanet puts out for free is absolutely stunning by comparison. People complain about “temporary content is temporary” and “I didn’t like X event” or whatever, but hey… you never know what you’ve got ‘till it’s gone.
I sure as heck wasn’t going to raid SoO for another YEAR while waiting on WoD, which is essentially featureless as an expansion.

A thousand times this.
