Charr – Ranger
Human – Guardian
For a year I have been trying to find a good reason that these are even still in existence. I have yet to find any reason at all that our drops are in bags. Small, tiny, hard to see and easy to miss bags. Why not true auto loot?

because they would get affected by Magic Find and we cant have nice things.

We don’t get nice things now, so, what’s the difference.
Now that you mention it. It is kind of funny, because loot bags are essentially RnG for your RnG. Because it is RnG as to whether or not a bag will drop from a kill, then it is more RnG as too what you will get out of the bag.

Hey dog, I heard you like RNG so I put RNG in your RNG so you can RNG while you’re RNG’ing.
It’s a bloody conspiracy I say! A bloodied conspiracy that conspires to break your cursor button! On a serious note, this is a poor design decision. After so many clicks your mouse clicker will wear out and break off entirely.
I am not concerned about my mouse and the limited amount of clicks that it has in its lifetime. I am more concerned about the bag or chest that was left on the battlefield.
…Are we talking about Loot Bags or Bags of Loot, or both?
I think the OP is talking about loot that drops on the ground, separate from the mob’s corpse, but it seems like a lot of people are talking about container items.
I’m fine with the bags. That said, I’d appreciate if they always spawned by my feet like they do in WvWvW.
I put aoe loot on my J key and reflexively tap J anytime something seems to be dying near me. I don’t have to see the bags to get them.

What planet do you come from that makes that even remotely comfortable to press that key with one hand on the mouse and the other using WASD?

mouse walk- makes it a piece of cake.
Since aoe loot was introduced I haven’t even been thinking about little sparkles/bags- nor do I have to stop to loot.
It works beautifully

I use “C” for the exact same effect. In time once a body falls you just hit C intuitively. Like someone said you don’t even bother to look for sparkles or loot anymore it’s just second nature to hit that key. It also saves other hassles while in big fights such as picking up warrior’s banners, and turrets if you are an engi who placed one and then picked it up right away again by accident and then have to wait for the cooldown (now THAT’S poor design).

Indeed… I never see any bags…
I think they drop in WvW instead of the loot being on the body because otherwise if you killed a player and they ressurected at a waypoint before you got your loot you’d loose it.
And having it in a bag means they need just one model for the object on the ground instead of one for every item in the game.
My mouse has a dedicated double-click button between the main left button and the roll. I only noticed after i bought it. Its the best feature in a mouse ever.

Would be garbage if you had to search the battlefield for loot bags after a fight when playing in the back-line.

In WvW thats mainly because you can kill an enemy while being inside of a castle, keep or tower. In that way you can then still get your items without being forced to jump into an enemy zerg to get it.
And of cource you can kill people that are inside a castle or keep or tower. If you however never get in that you would also not be able to get the loot. Now you do.
exactly this/these

Since day freaking one, but Toxic PvE mobs and Do Not Touch Towers are far more important and absolutely must be a part of WvW.

That negated Magic Find played it’s part when you got a bag instead of nothing.
Not with champs. You’re basically guaranteed a bag for each champ kill. Frostgorge champ runs for instance net you an exotic quality bag for every kill, guaranteed. Yet the MF% plays no part on what’s in them.
And I’m not entirely sure MF% plays a part in getting a white bag drop from a normal mob, due to the fact that it’s white and (I’m guessing here) part of the mob’s standard loot table.

thats not the problem though; not everybody runs the champion train, I agree that the bag of loots should be affected by MF or at least drop the mats more often outside…. in 1850 hours played I have gotten no more than 1 Eye….

I don’t think we are talking about the same things here. I was not talking about the guaranteed drops from champs. Clearly, if it is a guaranteed drop, MF did not affect your chance to get it.
I was under the impression ‘loot bags’ in this conversation was talking about the normal loot bags you get from body drops. MF definitely does affect your chances to find those, but not what is inside them.
If your speaking of WvW torment is the reason, being defeated and having 30 little loot bags spring up around your corpse all laughing at you.
