With few good places to farm tier 5 and 6 mats, lvl 80 DEs, etc. due to overall loot drop mechanics and very low drop rates many high level players are forced into farming the “loot corridor” – the pent/she WPs in Cursed Shore. The frequency of the DEs at these 2 spots plus easy access to DEs just SW and a fast run to plinx make these THE place to be.

Problem – classes are very imbalanced in terms of DPS output. The game enforces a tag + % of dmg algorithm to tell if you get loot or get stiffed.

So picture this – 2 or 3 warriors spinning like tops, a couple guardians spinning like tops – and the mobs pretty much all die within about 3 seconds.

Condition based classes – such as ranger and necro – can barely get an attack or 2 in before the mobs are 100% dead – let alone get credit for tagging anything. As a result – the high power build DPS toons get all the loot drops and the condition build toons get a fraction of the loot.

This is getting very old. Anet has not provided enough level 80 zones with sufficient drops, sufficient farming opportunites etc. and this is what the game has become – mass of people in Pent or She whirling like tops and grabbing all the loot.

Can anet please fix the Cove, please fix Orr to offer more farming locations and more equity across classes, please address the loot table issues which are the root cause for this dysfunctional behavior. People are here as they have no better choice for loot-per-time-spent. Anet could address this once and for all by fixing the loot drop rate.

We also experienced that. But in our case we do not only have warriors and guardians there but also some fire elementalists that are contributing their high dps.

I am not trying to get loot there with my mesmer anymore. ^^
Normally as a wellomancer you can get loot. (I am not talking about decent loot or high quality loot, but it is not as bad as with my mesmer)
But yeah.. however it’s getting worse.. maybe because people switch to their warriors and eles due to that issue and that makes it worse for the rest of us not farming with these classes. (Sometimes I do these events with my ele, but usually I’ll take my necro)

Another observation we’ve made was that if we are only doing theses events together (two people), most of the time there will be just as little loot as in a really big group (let’s say 10+).
The best loot results are when doing these events with around 6 – 8 people. (I think, maybe the numbers are not correct)
On top of this, if we group up to five people, loot quantity and quality increases. And it also depends on how much people are there in total.

Another problem is that most foes are dead before you can see them.^^

You try standing in a group of people, counting them, and if there are more than the “optimal” number of players, telling some to leave.

The amount of people there should make the event more difficult, as well as increase loot but it seems “more difficult” just means “more enemies with the same health” and better loot means whites and blues rather than grays and the seldom 2c here or there.

Might be this the reason i keep getting crap 90% of the time cause im more worried about supporting the group than actually doing dps.

Yeah, you’ve got a couple issues going here. There is the general problem of loot, or lack of same. And, there is the problem of condi builds not successfully tagging mobs. You could comfort yourself with the fact that the spinning tops really aren’t getting much more than you. Only partially kidding here.

But, yes, my mesmer has maybe seen the dark of the tunnel a couple times. Farming is far better with some classes though I wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s actually good with any.

Wouldn’t it be nice if instead of fixing the dailies that weren’t broken they turned their attention to condi builds? Both in terms of tagging and overall sustained damage. And, of course, it would be nice if they could destroy environmental objects at a respectable speed. There are so many issues right now that need attention that I’m nonplussed at the issues that do get addressed.

Anyone else who experienced similar things?

I forgot to mention that we experienced the following thing:
Your loot improves slightly if you switch your weapons from time to time.
Can anyone else confirm this?

Maybe it is perceived, but you could try that.. for example if you are a necro playing with scepter + dagger switch to your staff or as a guardian switch from greatsword to scepter and torch.. or whatever you like..

I think you will only notice a difference if you do not often switch weapons..

Yep, same thing. This zerg fest is there because the frequency of the events offsets the DR/RNG.

If ANet, adjusts it, they will nerf the events, not make the mobs harder.

Remember, ANet’s motto -“We are obligated to use the nerf-hammer because we don’t want players to feel left out.”
