Hi folks,

I posted here because i had enough to run fractals, fractals and fractals and drop less than i have dropped before the loot’s update.

I love fractals, i made near 500 levels, my ele is 44, my guard is 31 in order to explain my level.

Today, i do a difficulty level 20 with my guard (AH/might), with 65% magic find (40%food, 20% infusion on amulet, 5% on my back slot). I helped a guild and i drop no rare, no exo, nothing to gain money by reselling. I only drop a infused ring and a shard of mist essence, two things which are useless for me, i have more than 25 shards and don’t know what to do with, all my rings are still infused (6 rings)…
Now, if i don’t do a fractal, i can farm the world event (dragons, fire elem, behemot, …) and drop more items… But without any difficulty !!!!!!!

My guild mate was far from me for money, today he has more money than me, he just farm the world events without doing anything and i, after runs and runs, i dropped less than him in the same play time….

Is it normal that players who try dungeons are less rewarded than the players who let the first skill shoot on a boss of a world event ? Is that Guild Wars 2 developpers want ?
For me, i wonder if i will continue to play in these conditions.

Hope there will be an update for this, i doesn’t reward “skilled” players…

To the OP, the problem is this game is designed for casuals and carebears. That being said, most of them don’t have the will or the patience to do dungeons, but still want to get the same rewards. So, instead of taking a firm stance on allowing good players to get the best loot, ANet decided that skill shouldn’t be a part of your ability to get good loot.

In fact, they made it so the some of the best chests in the game drop from world bosses which are total zerg fests and take no skill at all.

Why does the word “reward” have to be synonymous with the word “loot”?

“Loot” is an extrinsic “reward”. I really hope you haven’t made it out of grade school yet.

Meh, sounds like a reward to me, I’d never get an ascended ring from doing dragons. :x

I love how you use the word “care bears” with thinly veiled contempt. Because it’s much better to be a hard core elitist, than a person who plays games for fun.

I’m a care bear…and proud of it.

Some ppl feel that its best to get all your loot at once with out truly working for it but you should know that RNG dose come into play at some level and you cant take a one time thing to determent all the drops from events. Most MF dose not effect the major chest from fractal even at the high levels. The rewards for running fractals is more about the chase to get ascended items and means of making ascended items. It can drop other things but the other things tend to be a bonus.

ignoring both sides of this

why would you be proud of having a casual hobby? did you really feel the need to go there, to that defense? really? come on.

I think you’re missing my point completely. In fact, I know you are.

Being a care bear doesn’t necessariliy make you ‘casual’. It means you enjoy playing something less competitively. The issue is that people use this word as an insult, implying that there’s somehow something wrong with playing a game for fun.

I think there’s nothing wrong with a playing a game for fun, and I can think of several things possibly wrong with being ultra competitive.

At any rate, who are you to tell me what I should or shouldn’t defend?

65% magic find?

There’s a whole other topic here on basically wanting a reward when the rest of the group was forced to carry you.

Magic find should only work when solo, or should apply to everyone in a group and get averaged across them, or simply be removed as a stat.

A stat which is designed to boost rewards the less one contributes to success is counter to good game design.

I don’t think it was affecting his stats that much.

Yes but you get one, two or three rares, or one exotic armor/weapon which you can sell.
Rings are specific for the fractals and can be sold to less than 5sp when a rare can be sell at least 20sp…
And how long does it take you to have your drop in world event compare to the time i do my fractal ?
These are the two problems i want to point

Thank you to notice my detail :
- the omnon food give me 20% boon duration, to keep might and vigor longer, so it does benefit to others
- the 20% infusion on amulet reduce my agony resistance by 5. I have 30 ar with this amulet. To do lvl 20 difficulty it’s very enough
- the 5% on my back slot reduce my power by 24 (i have 1631, full kight stuff….)
Are you really joking Kichwas ???

I’m casual, and yet i make more gold a day than most hard core gamers. Some people have a casual photography hobby, in which they can make $1500 a month doing what they love as a pastime, while having a totally different career.

And I don’t think the game was designed for casuals, I think it was designed with many aspects in mind. As such, it continues to grow and meet the ever changing player base, which I think is pretty much the core of a good MMO company.

You can also look at changes like Orr, where they increased the scaling for events. They require much more effort now, of which most “skilled” and “hardcore” gamers complained about. Meanwhile i prefer it this way, no fun in standing at the game slamming ur “1” key for loot. I’m sure more of this will be implemented in the future, and possibly entire changes to some boss styles. If it is money you are after it is a matter of time and knowledge of “what” to do that will get you the gold. Fractals is something people do for skill, or challenge. Reward is secondary, and the prestige of those rewards is scaled with the difficulty. In world pve, you are simply hunting down ways to make gold or have a good time. Different aspects, different play styles, different people.

Just an idea : Can’t we have a rare for each boss defeating in fractal like it appears when you have done a world event ? It can be limited to one gold per location per account per day at minimum level 10 ?

As well, fractals bosses are more difficult lvl 10 than the fire elemental, the behemot and other ones And when you killed a fractal boss, you drop a great chest, and you have not automatically a rare…

Strange isn’t it ?

But you are getting something others outside of the fractals cannot. (Well as far as dungeon wise) You get ascended gear, those farming Orr or Dungeons or events are getting gold. You cannot buy ascended with gold. So you in a sense are getting better loot than them. It just has a different value.

You can buy ascended rings with 35 laurels. It’s only the back item which is proper to fractals, and you must “farm” fractals to make one.
The loot is better in stat but he’s not interesting for “fractals farmer”, mainly for those who tries high levels fractals (40+ i think). You are not rewarded for the difficulty, you do not drop automatically a ring. I have already made some fractals which gave me only one gold and nothing else ….

But aren’t a ton of threads complaining about having 20,30,40 rings? Overall it seems they drop decent enough. But I will say I don’t do them, so I’m genuinely curious about the rewards. I know someone who reached level 80 fractals, but said after the patch it was nearly impossible to do.

If you give a rare at each boss, people will then stop doing entire dungeons and only do first boss runs. Would break the current meta even more.

Fractals don’t seem as profitable, because unlike world bosses, you cannot sell the main proceeds (ascended gear) and the grand majority of other interesting rewards are account bound. If you have too many ascended rings, then any extra ones would be a waste of space.

Also, in games like these, it’s usually not about tackling the hardest difficulty to get more in game wealth. It’s about locating the most efficient, consistent, and proper method of getting loot and usually that runs contrary to challenging content. That is why a certain few dungeon paths are extremely popular. Predictability is key to farming.

Though this game DOES have very poor risk vs reward ratio. Just look at champion drops.

Would it be too unreasonable to stick a yellow in the daily fractal chest for higher fractals? I don’t know, people would complain about the economy then.

For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards,
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

I will never understand the mentality behind loot farming. Closest i have come i trying to play some asian mmos, and i was bored to breaking point within hours.
