Lost 100gold due to poor visual design of ascended arrmor box. I got choice of berserk armor but i have chosen wrong type of armor from the list. List was very long and not very clear which choice is medium armor. Ive chosen heavy amor which is useless for me.

I hope HoT expansion will develop different ascened armor box window of choice.

Sorry to hear that. You could try to send a mail to support. I’ve heard of cases, especially with ascended trinkets, where people got reimbursed. You have nothing to loose.

The visual design is fine. I agree that the UI could have been done better (it is a long list to go through indeed) but ultimately it is your fault and your fault alone that you chose the wrong piece of armor.

You can clearly see what weight the piece of armor you selected is if you go over it with your mouse. It even displays it in bright red letters with the message “your class can’t wear this type of armor!” (also in bright red letters) if the armor weight of the selected piece is different from what your class wears.

Yup, ANet support is usually very forgiving in such situations, I also recommend you to try it.

I did that once with an armor box that dropped from fractals, I picked the wrong weight class. They had me destroy the armor piece then they verified that it was deleted and sent me the piece I really meant to get. Just be careful in the future because once or twice and they’ll fix your mistake, but if you keep doing it they likely won’t fix it again in the future. I now double and triple check what I want out of boxes before I say yes I want that.

File a ticket to the support, explain your situation as well as you can and wait patiently. Do not destroy the wrongly picked item until told otherwise. Support has been really helpful in my experience and I’ve had satisfying outcome in a similar kind of situation.

While I agree that the UI on the box should be reworked, one should always make sure that you are picking the item you want, even if it means closing the box and checking the item names.

I am not sure if submitting ticket will work, but as mentioned, you can try.

On the upside, you have a piece of heavy ascended armor which is worth more than medium. If you ever decide to play war/guard/rev, you will have a nice piece of armor ready for them when they hit 80!

Good luck on getting it resolved. I once lost my Teq wings due to a in game bug and support told me that it was against their policy to return it to me.

I’m seeing a case of user error here. You can just hover the mouse over each item and it will tell you what it is.

So you lost out on gold because you couldn’t take the time to read item descriptions?

Alrighty then.

He said Ascended Armour Box. Armour Boxes aren’t made, they’re dropped as loot.

All ascended items are account bound, you cannot sell them.

All I’m seeing is a lost opportunity at Ascended Armour?

It costs 100g to craft the armor itself.

If you’ve done a lot of fractals, you know they don’t drop the good loot often and when it does, it’s rarely ever in the stats you want. OP got a perfect storm, good loot and right stats.

Short of Support helping him out, the only reliable way to get the right weight of armor would be to craft it. Which would cost 100g. And that’s assuming he’s got a leatherworker at level 500.

Crafting such item costs 100g.

If crafting the item costs 100g, but you got the item as a drop, and picked the wrong weight, you didn’t lose 100g. No gold was taken from your wallet, you didn’t lose out on the potential for 100g from selling it, becuase you can’t sell it. And you didn’t spend the money to craft it.

If anything you saved 100g by that drop. But with several confirmation messages that your selection was the wrong weight and that your character was unable to use, and you still accepted it, well that only on you.

However, I do agree about the UI.
Instead of having a list with all the armor weights, and stat combos you can pick. Just make it so you can select the stats upon equipping it. This would make life so much easier.

They could highlight background color to distinguish better, all of them are brown-ish. Light could be pink-ish, medium yellow, and heavy red.

This happened to me as well. Support is very good about trading them. I even got to keep the skin of the wrong one, but that was probably because they can’t/don’t want to go through the work of deleting the skin from an account.

I knew I wanted rabid boots, and I was so sure that I was selecting medium. And once I hit the button I realized immediately what I had done. Ignore the holier-than-thou comments.
