Lost Shores - Déjà vu
While I agree with you, I think what we see is what we are going to get from here on out.
Cannot keep people with challenging content, gear, or flashy skins so they will use hype to keep some. I stayed through Halloween to see what ti was all about. I was just like you and set my alarm not to miss it and when it was over, I logged out.
I will still dick around in Tyria, but my time in this game as my main game is over. Sad, I really liked this game, too.
Thread name made me thought it was referring to this.

Seems like we might finally find out what it’s all about.
Yes, this is mostly my opinions about the state of events
But we’ve only had one event.
I’m not saying this one is going to be any different, but how about we get some data before we start analyzing trends.
Okay…so you arent into exploring, events, being a part of something or playing the game you just want loot…good on ya, hope you find another game that you care for. I like this one.
I just hope that these “one time events” are events that happen over a certain duration to allow a chance for people who play at different times to participate.
Like for example this is how I would have loved to have seen Orr for the first time when Gw2 was released:
Players get to Fort Trinity, the land is overrun with a huge amount of risen (a fair amount fewer around Fort Trinity). It would be nearly impossible for players to just fight their way through and onto the soil of Orr by themselves (although they could try and sneak by them for kicks).
Once enough players reach the areas level range, a letter to everyone at that level would signal the start of the one time event. Players would assemble at Fort Trinity for the first phase of the event; a colossal siege would then begin against Orr (led by NPCs). There would be NPCs setting up siege weapons at certain points for players to use and hold those areas. The first phase of the event would last 1 week and end at a fort/base near the portal to Malchors Leap (massive waves of risen spawning with champions, giants, etc would continuously assault the forts that players capture until two conditions are met: certain points would need to be captured and the week for phase 1 would need to have ended). As soon as the conditions are met, players would be able to move onto phase 2.
Phase 2 and 3 would be similar with players taking part in a massive assault on Orr. After each phase is complete the normal events would start on the maps; the entire event would be completed at the end of the 3rd phase after taking Cursed Shore.
That’s what these one time events should look like in my opinion and I hope they won’t disappoint with these upcoming events.
Orr wasn’t a huge success in my eyes, but it was the end of a massive game with a set release date. However, it did show show that a totally event based area can work (apart from the bugs), which is new ground.
I like to think that now the game is released things will only get bigger and better.
Yeah, but now that I see how they go about this stuff, it’s not a big deal. When they say “don’t miss it!” I’ll just make sure to be at least a few hours late, so that I can enjoy it properly.
Really, I prefer it this way. I’d much rather be able to enjoy content in my own time, than have these “one time events” be something I’d honestly hate to miss.
