"Lost adventurer" New Gw2 Metagame.
General rules:
a)You can only use WP if you are dead.
b) Set an amount of money for yourself (1g or 2g). You got lost with only that in hand. If you run out of it and die, you won’t be able to WP. It’s GAME OVER.
c) If you find an event that is up to 15 lvls higher, you must TRY to do it.
d) If you find a veteran up to 5 lvls higher, you must kill it.
e) You can only use items you find. Can’t use the TP unless you run into one.
f) If you run into a heart you must TRY to do it.
g) You can’t use your traits until you run into a mayor city.
Does c) include Group Events or ones with swarms which can bury a lone player in no time flat? Because then I’ll have to give this a pass. I am thinking about doing this and chronicling it for lolz.
Also g) , would you count forts or large towns on the areas (Like Claypool, for instance, or Lionguard forts) for the Traits?
This actually sounds like a lot of fun. I am going to try this out.

As for C, you must at least try do it. Odds are you are not going to be alone. If you used a Teletransportation Device and ended up on Costa Rica and saw a burning home with kids inside, you should at least to save them. That’s what adventure is all about.
G and E refers to anywhere you can find a TP or trainer. But don’t buy stuff with another character and pick them up with your Lost Adventurer. You are alone in this.

I agree on the theory of C. But chances are if the event is a loner (I run into those a LOT) then I’ll just be wasting WP fees.
. . . yeah it’s time for me to make a mesmer and get them lost. Well, sorry, starting Tuesday since it’s the first time I’ll have time to devote to this seriously
Just finished this with my new Human Elementalist, Eden Antilles. She got put in the middle of Mount Maelstrom. x_x I spawned on top of a Risen Krait near the Mire Sea, who proceeded to immediately kill me. Thankfully, a WP was open to me (Oxbow Isle Waypoint) in the general direction I needed to travel.
From there I went underwater (easier to avoid enemies, I found) northwest and then followed Broken Arrow River until I reached the entrance to Timberline Falls. Pretty easy, not many enemies.
I did some experimenting though – every enemy one-shots me and there isn’t anything I can do but avoid/dodge. I can’t damage any enemy. I also can’t even damage the ambient creatures or inanimate objects! Suffice it to say, doing most hearts (and all the ones I happened to pass) was a no-go.
I entered Timberline Falls and immediately ran into a problem… there were Risen everywhere. Some of them weren’t a big deal, eg. the abominations, but as I later confirmed, any enemy with a ranged attack is a big threat. I can’t dodge multiple incoming attacks, and it’s difficult to time it right when I can’t see every enemy on my screen. I took me probably 2 dozen tries to get out of the swamp area down there and move north toward Pythian Point. By that time, I was in my underwear, which is how I remained the rest of the journey.
Risen Hylek: You suuuuuckkkkk. I hate you so much.
Moved north, went in the little skritt cave at Stormkarl WP and was doing fine until suddenly all the friendly green skritt turned into angry violent red drunk skritt. Eep. Tried to go through there again a couple times, but too many skritt and too many of them ranged. Instead headed east, then north again. Made it to White Paper WP with no major problems. The icebrood elementals on the lake to the north of it were a bit tricky, but eventually I managed to time all my dodges right and move on. Made it to the waypoint and entrance to Dredgehaunt Cliffs after that.
Dredgehaunt Cliffs was difficult initially because every single event was active in the area of Frostland Melt and there were dredge everywhere. Dredge with ranged attacks. Finally managed to sneak/dodge my way through up to Seven Pines waypoint on maybe the 6th or 7th try. From there it was rather easy to get to Mountain’s Tail WP. Now this in area, with its Svanir (ranged attacks, grr) and wolves that somehow aggro from miles away, it became tricky. Also, there was an escort the emissary event on the road that had some (ranged) Aetherblades that I couldn’t sneak past. Ended up dying a LOT here. (Raged out loud a LOT and thus had to explain the whole thing to my husband haha.) As it turned out, the only way I got by that area was when 2 other players started fighting the Aetherblades. (I also could have just waited until someone completed the event, then got a free ride to Divinity’s Reach, as the balloon was right beside my WP. But that felt like cheating and I wasn’t that far away from Hoelbrak.)
But yeah, made it to Hoelbrak, put on some clothes lol, gated to Lion’s Arch, then Divinity’s Reach. Started at lvl 3 (I had played this toon a tiny bit in the Queen’s Pavilion previously, but nothing else), ended up lvl 5 – solely from exploration XP. Took maybe 40min. (Then another 30min to write this!) World Completion unchanged at 1%.
This was a fun challenge. Less fighting than expected, but it was actually cool to have to practice timing my dodges. I feel like the combat aspect (plus doing hearts, etc.) wouldn’t come into it unless one has to run though a starting zone – otherwise it’s just too high that you can’t touch it. Also, WPing is really really cheap at such a low level and over a short distance. I took 2g with me, but used less than 2s respawning. And there wasn’t anything else to spend money on.
Anyways, with some modifications I think this could be a really great way to ‘break in’ new toons. I’ll probably do it again with my lvl 2 Sylvari Engineer at some point.
Attached: Eden’s epic combat with a rabbit, which ended in a stalemate. Lol.
Hello guys! Just tried this and it was so much fun even if I got put in Lornar’s Pass that is way too close to LA.
I did a more in-depth recap of my adventure on my GW2 blog.
Don’t know if I can post the link so I’m gonna put it under a spoiler tab jsut in case…
Thank you for sharing this idea! I thought it was great!

Haha, great adventure Reina. I had noticed you couldn’t hit high level monsters before. Heck you can’t even apply conditions, but I must be honest and say I did not try to kill ambient creatures haha.
As for me, my human engi ended in a far side of Blazeridge Steppes.
I had to walk by branded creatures which are nasty ranged snipers. Luckily, I was able to use the cannon at Steelye Span and clear my way for the run. After that I ended up in Plains of Ashford which allowed me to do a couple events, hearts and get some decent armor and weapons. After that I went through the Black Citadel and out to Diessa Plateu. I found an errant emissary and took him to globe. I must say I was tempted to take the globe home, but no great adventure comes without pain.
So I kept on, up to Wayefer Foothill and down to Hoelbrak.
There it got really tricky. I asked an old blacksmith and he told me I had to go through Dredgehaunt Cliffs, how wrong was he, since I could of gone north to Snowden Drift and have a nicer time.
So there I was, surrounded by Jotuns and Linx who must have a 5km aggro area. I couldn’t pass by the Jotun Village that’s the closer way to Lonar’s Pass because it is just impossible with so many ranged enemies. So I had to survive going all the way down the map and take the longest path to the exit.
On Lonar’s things got a little bit brighter, I managed to kill a Blackskale after the most intense battle this game has ever witnessed, and went up to find he exit.
The thing is I got totally lost, I just cant find it and I refuse to see the map. It has taken me longer, but I know I will make it to LA. After that, I’ll be a few maps short of my beloved DR.
This has become more challenging than intended. I’m forging my engineer in fire lol.
You know what would be a really fun simpler version of this?
If there was a way to teleport friends/group members to you, you could all roll lvl 1 characters and do this “hardcore” style.
You teleport to a random spot in the world, then have to make it to a city w/o dying and if you die you’re out.
Imagine being teleported to Orr at lvl 1 and doing this? LMAO that would be intense.

That actually sounds pretty fun! Ah, if only! Good idea.
Great idea. Btw, is Twisted Watchwork Portal still bugged? i.e. can you use just one or do you still have to have a stack of them for them to work?
Actually, if you start in Orr you die in 5 seconds no matter what.
