Love this game
I’m loving this game too, OP! As far as gold sellers go, I believe Anet treats them with a much harsher disciplinary hand than other games might.
When you see one and report them, it actually provides a specific ‘gold selling’ option in the menu which is something I personally find attractive. I came from WoW and it was INSANELY tough to report a gold seller repeatedly only to have nothing happen.
I’m on Yak’s Bend myself and throughout all my adventures (so far), I’ve not yet run into a ‘baddie’ or an ‘elitist’. The community in this game, by a wide mile, are a vastly superior bunch compared to where I come from.
About the gold sellers, it may be because anet recently put a cap on the amount of gold you can send, you can only send or receive 500g per week, so that makes their job much harder.
Whatever problems I may have, gw2 is hands down the best MMORPG out at the moment. Been playing since day one. Best PvP, best WvW, best everything. I just wish there was newer content (especially PvE.) Which we should be hopefully getting with HoT. I say hopefully because we still don’t know what the challenging “group content” is.
Gold sellers occasionally exist. I see them about once a week maybe less. I think they ban them quickly.
Welcome to Tyria, you took your time getting here!
I’ve been here for a long time now and can agree with you when you say it is good. We sometimes moan about stuff but on the whole ANet usually gets it right.
If you want an example of how ANet actively polices it’s game then I suggest you look up ’Guild Wars - Dhuum Ban’ on YouTube. I remember ANet said at the time that it wanted to be seen to punish botters. It is hilarious to watch.
Gotta love a game developer who is bold enough to do that.
Welcome to the Internet, exposing characters since the early 80’s.
I do like this game but I stopped playing due it lacks of contents. I done pretty much everything Fractal + few legendary.
I got bored, there is nothing more to say. :/
Game probably doesn’t fit me I guess.

Speaking of absences…where the gold sellers at ? Been playing for 3 weeks and I have yet to see a single gold seller spam. Coming from Archeage and SWTOR, you have no idea how good that feels. How on earth did they pull this off? The game has a large population, gold seems to be in high demand. Is it just the B2P and over abundance of F2P titles in the competition that’s steering the gold sellers away or is Anet doing something other companies aren’t?
If you PvP long enough, you’ll see them.
Gold Sellers especially love to hang out in the PvP lobby. There aren’t a whole lot mainly because of the B2P model I think, (It’s really expensive to get throw-away accounts when they probably don’t even last a day once they start spamming) but they do come out of the woodwork when the game goes on sale.
Welcome to Tyria! I’ve been playing since beta. Recently I’ve been playing ff14 while waiting for the new gw2 expansion and I have to say gw2 has changed my view on mmos forever. I’m enjoying ff14 but it lacks builds and the game is small. There’s only one way to play every Class in that gsmr, which I never thought anything of in other mmos until gw2. You will see a lot of doom and gloom on the forums because we are a select group of people that love this game but voice our frustrations mostly due to waiting for certain things, namely an expansion l, for so long. Once this game starts rolling with living world content again you’ll really enjoy yourself
