Q:
Low pop at Cursed Shore??
A:
Actually, it’s likely the dragon and world events that sucked people away from Arah. Orr used to be the very best place to make money in the game. Now with the way it’s laid out a lot of people far elsewhere. You might have to guest to a busier server.
SoR is t1 WvW. Id say they must be quite popular to achive that. Also, for a while they were in 3rd, but atm, they have been 1st, holding SM, and beating JQ/BG during peak hours. I dont think there is many busier severs besides maybe other t1 servers . Ive never tried TC , maybe they are PVE more?
1.) Anchorage/Arah are very difficult to take since the feb patch due to buffed Risen Nobles, so no one will bother helping you since you need a 20 man zerg to do it
2.) If I recall, SoR has a bugged perma penitent event. So everyone is most likely doing that event

Anet made Orr “more interesting” in the 2/26 patch. That’s anetcode for they apparently don’t want you playing there anymore. Between buffs to risen, champs at pent/shelt, a “designed to fail” grenth temple fight, I think it’s natural that you would see an exodus of players. If they truly thought that what they were doing was making Orr more interesting then we would have a serious problem on our hands. But, I don’t think it’s that at all—it’s probably just more micro-management of players playstyles, that’s all.
Both my sons and I are on another full server and our experiences are somewhat the same. However; we just don’t like the area from a graphics standpoint. Overall it is ugly and depressing (in our opinion) so we don’t go to there.
Kind of like the Burning Crusades expansion, some loved it, some tolerated selected areas and others ran thru it skipping as much as possible.
I will play all areas once to experience all the content, after that I skip those I don’t like which is real easy in this game from a leveling standpoint.

We aren’t as WvW focused (T2) but we have a very healthy PvE presence on TC. There are still people in CS doing events, hell,m theres people in every zone most of the time I go exploring. :o
I agree with Theoldman…. Orr is simply UGLY.
While leveling, there were other places that were similar in mob density and difficulty, but at least we could see some interesting scenery. Orr, to me, looks like the bottom of an aquarium someone left out in the garage for 10 years. Kinda dark, dusty and slimey at the same time, with horridly pink fake coral…
The other thing is that the rewards for the effort stink. If you’re not part of a zerg, then there’s nothing to be gained by beating your head against the wall for an hour only to receive one rare and 15 common items.
I wish I had better news for you, but about the only thing you can do is to guest on some other servers to see if there are better chances elsewhere.
Good luck!
I haven’t been to Orr since last week. Ever since last week I have been having connection issues in Cursed Shore and dc around every 3min every time I go there, and pent is bugged.

Why bother with Orr, when you can get better loot doing the timed Dragon/Low level events. I think players have figured it out. It will likely change again after Anet Nerf’s the loot for these events.
The best time to do Orr if you need to complete the maps is on the weekends when there are more players.
On Blackgate most of the popular event are in bugged state thats why there are fewer people there.Only 2 temples event are working now.
Pentiant camp is bugged that the building progress is stoped with no end of risen waves
I guess it happen on other server too.
Seven 80’s here and I have only been to Orr with my first 80 (I don’t remember how long ago that was.) Reasons echo many of those stated above, including bugged/stalled events. Mostly: the zones are unpleasant (both visually and game mechanics wise) and I don’t need to be there.
Add in the fact that ANet is now herding everyone into the lowbie zones through the dailies (path of least resistance) and that’s part of your answer.
