Hi there,

Im not here to complain, more like to share few things that recently, started to upset me quite a lot.
So im playing GW2 since beta, i have two accounts, one for storage (oh the wood ….) and main one for everything else. On it recently passed 7k hours of play time, and also 20k ap. Not like those numbers say much but i really did play this game a lot.
So far i used 25k rare crafted GSs on mf, and i believe same if not more random rares on MF. I did Tequatl raids so many times that i cant even dare to count it. Fractals , well , who remember days when we were doin lvl 80 for skins ?
Overall, i did quite a lot GW2 and yet results of my play are kinda disappointing.
Precursors from random drop: 0
Precursors from MF: 0
Fractal skins: 2 (this have a plus side, one of the skins was 1h sword)
Most valuable drop: Rhendak ring.
for quite some time i was not really upset for not getting drops, but , forgive me, lately i seen several players, new to game, who would say , "hey i got new exotic weapon and it costs 1000g omg ! and two weeks ago i had also some exotic weapon that was 500g " . It makes me sad , not the part that they get it , im happy for everyone , but i get really sad since i believe im quite good player in wvw, spvp and pve , since i play all , and yet , well nothing comes for “free”.

So if there is some of you who did play this game for long time , and tell me how you feel about this ?

Thanks for reading and forgive me for this rant , just needed to share somehow…..

Have a good day.

Yeah RNGesus can be cruel. On the bright side, this stuff builds character and going from your post you seem a cool guy/girl not going on a rage but politely asking how others feel. Not sure many are that relaxed on this issue.

Is it unfair that some people pull more precursors out of the mf than other see rares in a day? Sure. (me not being one of them unfortunately)

Getting that 1 lucky drop feels that much better though at the end. At least you have the AP going for you since the skins from there are quite seldom at 15k AP+. I’m really hoping anet expands on that concept further (not a lot, but a little more would be nice).

I feel totaly neutral to it. RNG is RNG. If you played that much you have been in the position to buy atleast 5 precursors (unless you blew the money on other things). I’ve played the same amount of time and “only” got a legend drop for me.

The mystic forge is a gambling machine. People often mix statistics with expected results. Let’s say that everytime you put in 4 rare greatswords, you got a 20% chance on it being an exotic and a 0.1% chance of it being a precursor (the last number is something I made up). That means in all you got a 0.02% chance to get a precursor. People then often go on and expect that if they do this 5000 times, that they have to get a precursor. Reality however is that on each individual try you got a 0.02% chance. This doesn’t change if you gamble more often or less. If you want a precursor, save the money and buy it from the TP. If you want to gamble, do so, but don’t cry over loosing all your money.

Just occured to me, last I remembered about precursor mf crafting people were getting bad luck streaks of up to 4-5,000 gold. That would equate to about 15-17k rares. So while very unlucky, it is possible.

Yeah, RNG is RNG. Let’s see how things change with HoT.

that’s how life works

This is part of my problem. GW2 to me, is only escape from , lets say a bit hard life (cant complain since i have pc and internet , while some ppl hardly have decent meal ), but it kinda reflects my RL too much.

And yeah, i really try not to complain, since, i have made 3 legendary, i got 2-3 of most expensive skins right now in game, so i am not poor in game at all, but believe me i worked for every single one of those without TP playing, i save everything, i never ever buy anything for sale price on TP, i set offer and wait, and so on.

Just , you know, sometimes i wish to see lucky break, and not coz i miss gold or items , i dont , i even share what i can with friends and random ppl, but just sometimes i wish that WOOOW feeling.

I play GW2 since launchday (although not throughout the whole nearly three years, i tend to take breaks and return every now and then), but I only just reached my 7,5k AP chest. Playtime is over 1,2k hours. And yes, I know that sounds “casual” as all hell, but I personally think I am quite good in this game, at least in PvE (yeah, yeah, i know) and also know pretty much everything there is to know about that one mode.

I never found a precursor. At launch, all my friends said that i should work on my legendary, because there is nothing else to do, and i told them that i would work on it once i have the RNG-part done, hence when I hold a precursor in hand – and I still stand to that! I don’t know why exactly, but I really do not care that much about a legy anyway (big part may be that i main engineer and equipping the legy rifle would lead to using Hip Shot with a sniper rifle).

To get to the point: yeah, there are moments when i really hate RNG – but as it is my decision to wait for it, rather than to work for it, I don’t see myself in any position to complain. Some people are just more lucky, and I personally play GW2 for it’s world, lore and gameplay.

Played almost every day since head start and my most valuable drop was celestial dye. I sold it for 25g (long time ago now) and bought exotic armour for my ranger with the money. Few weeks later I got another celestial from a dye I crafted so kept that one. Everything else I crafted or bought from the TP.

I hear all the time about people getting precursors or other valuable drops but I decided long ago that my account is not lucky so gave up hope of anything nice.

Now I have nearly all the materials for a legendary weapon by earning or buying them (the clovers were a nightmare to get as there is no option but to bow to RNG. I kept a record of my drop rate and when compared to the average on wiki mine was 1/3rd of that though I did get T6 materials as compensation). Now I wait for HoT so I can craft my precursor as I won’t buy one.

None of this would stop me playing every day, I just accept that some accounts are lucky and some not. Would be nice to be in the first group but then at least most other accounts share my group.
