Luck on different accounts
Well, I’ve heard many stories about players that barely started the game and dropped pretty rare items, even precursors
On the other hand, I could find one only once with a 300% magic find boost, with close to 1k hours
So yeah, I think this RNG stuff is broken and the game is not rewarding people for their hard work, but that’s life right?

I think we’re all here to escape life for a little while, aren’t we?
Well that’s how RNG works. You may say RNG is a kitten game mechanic, I say it’s simply outdated. In any way, this doesn’t mean there is a difference between accounts or there is anything broken. That’s simply how it works: good drops happen, to anyone under any condition- or they don’t (more likely). Tripleing a 0.05% chance doesn’t actually affect you as an individual I believe. RNG of that kind only takes accountable shapes with thousands of rolls by thousands of people. It means not every individual will get a good drop, because those are supposed to be rare. Again that may not be fair, but it does what it is supposed to do, hence it’s far from being broken.
I used to curse my luck as I very rarely got any exotic drops, played since BWE as well.
I played the Mystic toilet quite a bit and finally dropped Dusk so got to make Twilight for my warrior and only last weekend dropped 2 more pre’s from the toilet in 2 days so Yeh RNG is simply that, RNG :/
I found this thread, where more people were complaining about it: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/There-is-Luck-and-then-there-is-RNG-Luck/first
I never complained about the game, it flaws and so on. But when I just discovered this difference, it made me very annoyed because it is not right. One cannot compare it to real life, since a game is the opposite of it: it is fully programmed and scripted. It should’t give the feeling that there is a distinction between players.
Do more people see that difference between accounts?
There’s no difference between accounts (well, beyond the Magic Find stat which you can see in character panel and which you can raise through luck items, infusions, boons, banners and food). What you see is a perceived difference that comes from RNG for the most visible items being of low chance high variance kind.
If you compare drops on two accounts over a long time (say, a year), those differences will become very minor. Unless they are related to differences in playing time, effort put, playing style and visited content.
TL/DR: in a huge group of people, the RNG this game has will always result in “lucky” and “unlucky” accounts. It doesn’t mean those accounts have different drop chances, but only that they ended up on the opposite ends of distribution curve.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
That’s just typical rng. Some people have been playing since the beginning and barely get anything worthwhile, while precursors drop like candy for others.
