Luminescent Armor does not Glow ?

The carapace armor does not have luminescense. The luminescent armor, which is a variation of the carapace armor available through achievements has.
I started out the Living Story on one character and obtained my Carapace Pauldrons. I noticed that they didn’t have the luminescent hue to them like I’ve seen with other players. I then started a new character and obtained the gloves, leggings and boots (in that order). Again, I’m not noticing any particular luminescence. What am I doing wrong ?

Carapace and Luminescent armor are different things. Check the collections tab to see how to get luminescent skins.

Carapace armor pieces have no glow to them, they’re merely components to unlock the ‘real’ Luminescence armor that have a blue pulsing glow.
The Luminescence is the blue tint version of the Carapace as the Carapace is more of a ‘grey or steel’ looking replica of the Luminescence set.
If you open your achievements (H key) tab, then go to the achievement section > Basic or Rare Collections tab > Leggings/ Shoulders/ Gloves/ Boots collections, you should see a difference between the looks of Carapace vs. Luminescence. In the Rare collections tab, it’ll show you all of the blue tint Luminescence armor pieces.

Downgrade, you mean. Carapace armor is way better than its luminescent variant.
