MMO Mice and their programs
No a MMO mouse is not cheating, im using a razer naga 2012, witch is able to make macros/change dpi/assign buttons. It’s just a usefull tool.
I’m not a dev but I don’t think that’s a problem. That seems more a functionality of the mouse thing than something to really give an unfair advantage.
I think 3rd party programs is more of a catchall for programs specifically designed to mess with the game in unfair ways, or memory editors. While the mouse program would probably qualify as a technicality, I highly doubt that’s what they are after.
They are probably just using broad language to prevent any kind of loopholes.
I’ll give you an example from back in GW1 days.
In GW1 we had several tedious tasks to get titles, one of the harder ones being Cartographer. It required you to literally uncover all “fog” from the world map. Sometimes you would get to about 99.8% and only have these skimpy little sections hardly noticeable to reveal.
This is where we used a 3rd party program, it was called TexMod. It allowed you to basically make a layer on top of the in-game map showing the fully explored world compared to your exploration, making it much easier. Although I think there were 2 versions of texmod, one that was allowed and one that wasn’t due to the way it edited files or something? But you get the point: Tools that don’t give you any unfair advantage over someone else who isn’t using them shouldn’t get you banned. (tex mod was completely client sided and affected no one but yourself)
