Ok folks, im getting fedup with the ppl you meet in these games now. Theres many things that i see in chat that annoy the hell out of me and i think this needs to be strongly pointed out. Its got to the point i sometimes have to turn off chat, a core function of an MMO.

First of all i see many players being accused of being a troll. Admitedly sometimes it is annoying to see ppl complaining about other classes but when I saw a guy ask a legit question about any tips on how to defeat a certain class in a 1on1 fight and straight away i saw 2 names accusing him as a potential troll and made a big thing about it just from one simple question asked by a decent mature player. These accusers should be noted and banned.

Another really really anoying thing im seing a lot in GW2 and other MMO chats i play is ’ Google It’. I mean jeez, we all playing an online game and have joined a “supposedely helpfull” comunity. Everyone knows we can just ‘Google it’ why say in chat to just annoy other players.

Anyone reads this post and disagrees should not be playing MMOs.

yeah i guess, but why. I play LOTRO as well and never get this in chat there so i dont think it can be entirely blamed on the internet.

Much of 4Chan has been anticipating the day GW2 came out, so they’re probably form /b. (Rules 1 and 2, I know -_- )

Welcome to the internet. I get sick of it as well.

I would maybe try to change servers also.

Have you tried changing server? I don’t think I’ve seen any of these issues on mine (Desolation, EU).

You do often get at least one person giving unhelpful answers to any question, (although that can be a matter of opinion, I thought “it doesn’t matter, play whichever you like best” was a helpful answer to “What’s the best profession?”) and at least once I’ve seen someone accuse another player of being a bot even when they were in chat saying “No, I’m not a bot, I’m here!” but generally people seem to be pretty helpful and friendly.

(And yeah, at the risk of sounding biased if you’re on whichever server 4Chan picked that probably explains it.)

I try not to get mad about what people say on the internet… Or in real life. I bit hard, I know.

Don’t forget people telling others to skip the story in dungeons. That is really rude. But what’s worse is I don’t ever say anything. Nobody says anything except the aggravator, then evil prevails because we do nothing.

Sad, really…

On Stormbluff Isle, most of the “Barrens Chat” is isolated to Queensdale. Even LA is’nt that bad.

Hell, yesterday, I was waiting around in Queensdale for CM groups, and I wound up buying a lowbie a Sword off the TP because he was asking in Map Chat…if you want kitten to change, it all starts with you.

However, answering a PvP related question related to beating a class 1v1 is a pretty long & drawn-out explanation…even for me, and I’ve played about every possible aspect & build of my chosen profession. Even I would say “Head to GW2.com, and check the Class forums”. Because you and I both know, if you start laying down strategy on how to beat that class in /map-chat, it’ll be seconds before the meatheads who play that class in the zone are calling you a noob, etc.

The old GW community was actually quite helpful so i expect that to return to some extent . With that said trolls just kind of come with the territory when it comes to MMOs and should be expected, particularly in subscription free ones .

I play on Tarnished Coast, and the community there is always been nice, patient, and helpful. By far my favorite community in any game I’ve played.

Maybe try a new world and see if it helps?

It was bad enough, but then I get to this part.

It actually made me laugh out loud, complaining about the community and then stating that anyone who disagrees with you shouldn’t be playing.

Classic.

SoE have finally been knocked off the top spot
in the list of developers I have the least faith & trust in.

GW2 is rated T, gotta get used to some childish behaviors out there.
Good parenting is almost non-existent nowadays, don’t expect the new generations to come up with a mature reply, just find a guild with mature individuals and ignore the rest.

I love the myriad number of excuses here, 4chan community, welcome to the internet, and the item I quoted above. How about this people take responsibilty for yourselves and maybe take advise from the Golden Rule:

“Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.” Mt 7:12

For those that enjoy treating others with spite and hatefulness I have to wonder what has happened to you in your life that makes you want to treat people with malice. Truth is the more you treat people with ugliness the more the ugliness comes back on you.

I actually agree with what you say, my point was to show that internet gives a way to people to say things without consequences.
I dream of a day where everyone’s name is shown and they get repercussions for wrongdoings even online; but of course they will come up with all excuses like privacy blah blah.

As a matter of fact you can be the finest gentleman in the world and still get ugliness thrown at you if you hang out with immature crowd.
Hence why a good mature guild is the way to go!

Troll is a buzzword now, having an unpopular opinion is enough for people to label you as a troll.
