Anybody out there knows a macro or command that can help with this?
Basically what I am looking for is a shortcut to disable and enable helmet (visual only, not equip) mostly for roleplay purposes.

I want to be able to take off the helmet off battle and put it on once in battle again but without the hassle of having to go to the menu everytime and do the whole dance to get it off and on.

I cant help you but I know the feeling:
“oh my god, I’m going to need a helmet for this”

I was hoping ANet would include this as a feature. Currently you can only choose to either show helmet or hide helmet. It would be nice to have more options like show helmet when weapon drawn or hide helmet in major cities.

The same goes for gloves and town clothes (cough outfits). It would be nice to automatically switch to an outfit when entering a major city.

Additional keybinds for those kind or roleplaying stuff (toggle helmet, toggle outfit, outfit sub-window) have been requested for years.

Since GW2 is meant to be about horizontal and aesthetic progression, such low-effort features supporting the latter would appear to suggest themselves.

It’s like hearing a cellphone in the middle of the movie, it interrupts the flow and suddenly your focus shifts off

Since in order to hide a hat/helmet/mask means opening the Hero panel first, then clicking the tick box (and possibly also having to go into ‘Equipment’ if you’ve previously gone on dyes or something) would be more than one action, I imagine such a script would be a breach of ToS.

As an RPer myself, I don’t see an urgent need for such a thing to be implemented by ArenaNet. I have a couple of characters that pull their hoods down in bars, and given the current pace of how RP works, it’s not really that difficult to do since you kind of have to wait for other RPer’s reactions and stuff to emotes anyway.

Do you really need a macro to take the helmet off and on? How often are you RPing in a place where you’re prone to be battling? Or, if you’re in a battle zone, wouldn’t it be wiser to leave it on until you’re sure you’re safe? I know you want to make it easy to just take it off, but I think this might just be one of those things it’s easier to struggle through rather than spend time adding even more optional toggles.

It’s not only this keybind, a few more optional ones could indeed improve the game’s flow for most players.
Eg. <Hero-Build> for the min-maxers and <Toggle Helmet> / <Toggle Outfit> etc. for RPers.

on a diff note tho im not familiar about macros in gw2 from w8w.i remember you.could easily make them and have them as buttons in your bar but in gww im not sure how these work maybe they could do it as an emote that automatically hides your helmet when you do the animation. But then again there are things that bug me like opening the world map and you pc doing nothing physical to show that…

Just make sure your last use of the Hero Panel is the Equipment tab. Then use the “h” key, box clic, “h” again method. Its the fastet way to do the change without relying on illegal interface maneuvers or in the tiny hope the devs would make something that specific any time soon.

So what if they do? It’s a legitimate request for someone, if that’s something they enjoy.

Just because you (and I) don’t care about that doesn’t make it invalid, and there is no need to be sour at someone just for wanting something different to you.
