Hey,
So. I’ve made a new guardian besides my Charr guardian because the weapon I’m getting looks better imo on another race. That aside, I find myself not doing a single renown heart after I hit level 30-35.
Why? Quests don’t give me anything. Exp from them is meh, coin from them is meh, they give no karma or if they do it’s also meh.
But the main reason I don’t do them isn’t because I have other leveling options or because I already have 100% map on one char. It’s because they don’t UNLOCK new content, or anything else for that matter. They’re just “there” and it’s a complete viable option to ignore ALL of them.
None of the quests give you a reward that is specific/rare to that quest that makes you want to do it, none unlock a certain area, dungeon or activity. I’m missing this here on GW2.
Most other games I’ve played had key quests that you NEEDED to progress, I’m not talking about your personal story. I do that for the sake of the story. But I mean, some things could have such an epic story line using the already available quests in the game to unlock new content.
Creating a skin, gaining access to certain areas/events/karma merchants that are worth it or just merchants that are worth it in general.
You could link several NPC’s quests together in a story line to unlock a I don’t know, let’s say a cave where you have to fight a few things or go through a small JP that allows you access to a merchant that sells x/y/z. Be creative, there’s so many possibilities.
A hidden JP that has a 100% reward for a black lion key that you have to have done a certain quest line for to get to and be able to do it on a daily basis. Hell, even to unlock traits you just have to buy a book from an NPC. There’s no story, no sense of accomplishment that you “grew” as a warrior (not the class, just overall). You just click a book and magically improve and are able to learn new skills. While you could’ve had so many fun/different options. Challenges to unlock each trait line for example, to unlock the ability to put more points in to trait lines. All those possibilities are not utilized.
The possibilities are endless and they add more than just the copper/silver reward and some exp you get from that quest. The only things I do on my new alt are vistas, poi’s and waypoints and the personal story. I don’t even bother with story in dungeons because I can open on my Charr guardian.
So basically, there is no “reason” for me to re-discover these quests. And I think there should be, it would be so much more fun
I’d like it if we could have some discussion about this and maybe some input. I know that most of you here have played other games so I’m sure you understand what I’m talking about.
