Magic Find to help find portals?

Good to have it anyway. You’ll be opening chests there. Might as well have it for that.

Not entirely true. The mobs from escort events can all drop loot.

Yes. but the big defend events do not and that’s a huge part of being in the silverwastes.
Unless they’ve changed it so that event mobs DO have a chance to drop this portal (and that’s it) despite them not dropping regular loot then doing the big silverwastes events to try and get this portal might be a huge waste of time and Dry Top would be the better place to try and find one.

You me that sounds like all the mobs in those 2 areas can drop a portal when killed.

Maybe they can drop from chests, either bandit or bouncy?
Until ANet makes it clear, I think I’ll have to haunt DT rather than SW even though I enjoy SW much more.

This is Anet. You are not safe assuming anything that wasn’t explicitly mentioned. For now, all we know is that there will be at least 2 mobs in SW and Dry top combined that will drop those. Anything more is pure conjecture, which may or may not be true.
