Except gliders are attached to the shoulders/back of the character. So, they’d have to come up with a way to make it look like you’re riding a magic carpet while still being part of the gliding set up. Might be a bit difficult.

Perhaps you could be lying down (in the usual glider pose) with the carpet beneath you?

I figure if they can do a bubble glider, it’s not like the glider has a clearly defined template it has to follow, animation-wise.

Unless they can add functionality to the item which adds gliding capability. You can currently use the carpet and hit space to activate existing glider wings. I wonder if it is possible that when you hit the glider button, it just transitions into a glider that way.

If they added such functionality, I expect they could do it the same way they did white/black wings, with an NPC you talk who unlocks the glider.

This could open up other possibilities . Broom glider

Or a horse glider! Oh… wait… no…
