Magic find Cap Explained
My only comment is…that you’ll probably still get blues from mobs.
This is currently all theory, yes?
I will admit I have been getting more rares more often, and by often I mean; they finally actually drop.
But then again, maybe it has to do with the fact that I have been farming champions non-stop during the last week.
My fear though is that they will adjust [if they didnt do so already] the drop loot so that the net end result is the same.
Kindo of like damage; increase the stats but buff bosses’s hp so at the end you feel good because you see bigger numbers but end result is the same.

Look at the image in that trhead. Undeniable Proof I was right and you are all dead wrong again! He has 305%, 300 from maxed LUCK MF and 5% from account rewards.
And you can then add everything else you eat or use!
How do people get such high mf so fast? I heard something about salvaging ectos
I’m now sitting at about 85% MF (usually 95% thanks to guild bonuses), and I have noticed a small increase in the amount of Rares that are dropping. It’s roughly on par with the drop rate I was getting on Southsun during the 200% MF bonus.
Whether or not having players running around at a permanent 400%+ MF will have a large scale impact on the game and the economy is still up in the air. As some of us are fond of saying, 3 times 0.01% is still only 0.03%. It mostly depends on just how rare things like Exotics and other ultra-rare drops are. The drop-rate of Rares themselves isn’t such a big issue since most players are just tearing them apart for Ectos anyway, and the market for Ectos is big enough to absorb an increase in supply.
@Avelos: Yeah, those players have been salvaging Ectos. It’s not uncommon to get 2 – 3 Rare Essences of Luck from a single Ecto.

I just salvaged 24 ectos with black lion salvage kit and got at least 1 masterwork essence or 5 fines
I still only see greens/blues…
It won’t increase your chances of getting a precursor, therefor it makes no difference.

I am really trying not to get my hopes up until I reach those levels because I was so disappointed to the changes they made to the loot system in November after buying the game so I’m seriously trying to remain objective about this system.
I can only say this. There seems to be some things going on with chests and boss bags that are great. I’ve actually received Rares from chests and boss bags of late and I’ve not reached 70% yet on my base mf.
I still however see a slight problem, players that are max level seem to get penalized more for being level 80 whereas those who are 1-79 get way more drops which means, they are still operating under the notion that making new players feel like they are extremely lucky means they’ll like the game more, they need to fix this problem because more players become disgruntled when they reach level 80 only to find that their drops are nerfed somehow or they aren’t as lucky any longer.
Also, DR still exists in the open world and needs some serious drop off so that it doesn’t affect players when fighting temporary event only mobs, these mobs should never ever drop greys! Ever!
I can tell you from my own experience that it made no difference. I had a birthday booster (2 of them) and I farmed all those hours with 240 MF.
I noticed 0 difference in drops. I got the same amount of powerful bloods, same amount of rares as when I had 140.
The fact of the matter is that MF just doesn’t make any noticeable impact in what loot you’re getting, which is probably why they didn’t give a crap about making it an account-wide statistic because it makes little to no difference. MF doesn’t even affect chest-based loot which is where most of your loot comes from anyway in terms of rares. RNG rules this game. You either roll big or you don’t, mf barely impacts it at all.

Just remember that 600% MF means that instead of a 1/100 chance of getting an item from a drop, you’ll have a 6/100 7/100 shot. A considerable percentage more, but still not amazing odds. And that’s for a 1/100 drop chance. I’m betting most of the good items have a base drop rate closer to 1/1000.

Nope, with 600% MF, you get 7/100 shots. It’s 1 + MF, not MF alone.

Are you under the impression that the difference between 7/100 and 6/100 invalidates his point?

No, but if people want to do the math, they should do it right. That’s all I’m saying.
Are we still adding percentages to an UNKNOWN number and getting upset/excited ?
The made-up [unknown] numbers were simply to illustrate a point. The point still remains. Get upset/excited as you will.

Still RNG.
