call it coincidence or RNG but when i use MF gear, i get a significant number more exotics/rares from chests than when i do it without. anyone else agree? im convinced im right, i already know the statement is that it doesnt, but my play expericnce has showed otherwise.

its kind of like in IRL when people find that 1 tiny loophole to a 100 page law (or code program like RNG). it may not be on the books as official that it works, but the people who are aware of it, use it and benefit

I rarely get good things(exotics, or a lot of rates) from chests because I usually stop by with 3% magic find, and some guildies who use a lot seems to get quite a lot of exotics. I buy it

There are sooooo many bugs in GW2, where skills, abilities, traits, monster abilities don’t work as they should…that I wouldn’t be the least surprised…

If this comes to a devs attention, it may be one of those things they fix however, so you may spoil it for everyone…

I’d believe it. Seems like I get better stuff out of chests with omnom berry MF and banner MF than none.

Due to the nature of RNG, you will never be able to answer this question through anecdotal testimony. Luckily Anet has given us the answer:

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Magic-Find-Chests/first#post597487

MF affects only loot dropped by mobs; it does not affect chest drops.

Which would all be fine and well if we could believe a word that came out of their mouth. The fact they have been proven wrong time and time again about their own game is going to make the rest of us leery however.

The devs have said in the past 100’s of times, this is how it works…

But, in game, the players know for fact how it works completely different…

This is because players play for 100’s of hours, well the devs don’t have time to do that…

As this is a feature that contributes to less reward in the game, I feel they are likely giving us the straight story here.

By regular drops do you mean “regular” or the settler trinkets? If it’s the settler trinkets or the mini reef rider that doesn’t really count.

Do you keep records of hundreds of runs, with and without mf, and their respective loot?

Sounds like placebo effect.

But of course. The players know more about MF through anecdotal evidence than the devs who have access to the actual coding. Yeah that makes a lot of sense.

Guess what? I was receiving blues and greens as loot. I started stripping my character before collecting loot and I started getting rares and even an exotic. Clearly stripping my character was the reason and not RNG.

Excluding those trinkets, 6 regular exotics, from karka/reef riders etc, 1 from chest.

I hear if you align your computer with the north star that you’ll get at least a rare in every chest.

This nerf Orr thing is practically becoming a meme. I like it.

Well … not entirely, it’s made getting t6 mats a chore but it’s still funny.
