Just wondering if magic find gear is worth it?

Ignore the stats you loose when going for magic find gear and only focus on the increased “drop” is it worth it? Anyone tested it (if it can be tested)?

I think MF has lost significant value since the Nov 15th patch when Anet stealth nerfed the drop rates of many NPCs.

They nerfed it for everyone, using MF or not. MF will still have a noticeable effect, though overall drop rates suck now. Boggles my mind why they nerfed things so badly… Gold is incredibly hard to come across in this game compared to the cost of stuff. You can spend an hour farming out a single gold in a dungeon…and then go craft HALF of a single rare item with it. An hours worth of work should yield a lot more than that.

Magic find equipment is worth it as long as you don’t sit in the same zone all day killing the same things.

Move around to different maps for your farming/killing… and party up, you get significantly better drops when in a party, and you kill things faster meaning you get “more” drops per minute.

Just go to the wiki and look at what it does, based on that then yes it is worth it but as bluewanders.5297 said, you really need to go to different zones (~ every hour) and be in a group for maximum benefit. The big question about MF is whether there is a “magic number” or if flat out maximizing it is the best option.

magic find also has the new bug of completely lowering the drop rate quality not just quantity the higher you go. It’s actually better off just being in regular gear and only using the mf when you are farming mobs for t5 t6 mats imo. Rares only come off of champs now and only if you are lucky and I wouldn’t suggest using mf for rares or exotics not even the food or guild buff because you won’t see anything drop at all if you do, that’s how badly it’s broken. This comes from multiple people testing it, over almost a month’s time since before Nov 16th. This has been an almost a month long ordeal with silence from them accept the AMA where chris said they would investigate.

Yes. Got 2 exotic stuff thanks to those. Without MF gear, I’d probably not get them. But it depends on what type of MF gear you want. Just get the rares, green trinkets, backpiece is cheap, and a sigil of luck and s.pirate runes + 1 s.rune of the noble. Wouldn’t probably cost you alot, and the longer you farm, the more it pays itself out and more.

I like my MF set. I dunno about exotics since they drop rarely anyhow but I definitely get better materials.

I don’t use it any more. I just use food, tools & Guild flags these days. Can’t really see any difference.
