So after farming for the Carapace/Luminescent armors when they were released and continuing to farm while waiting for the lat leg of the living story to come out, I had a crap load of bandit crest. There is nothing left to buy from the vendor but keys. I now have 1000+ keys because I didn’t want the bandit crest taking inventory space and lets face it they are easy to farm if something new pops up.

Geodes have the same problem, and I am sure for Dry Top farmers they pile up, but at least there is stuff you can do with geodes including making parts for Mawdrey to sale on the trading post.

I believe both of these currencies belong in the wallet, but not going to hang on that point. I would actually love to see a conversion between the two. I don’t think it even has to be 1 to 1 ratio so an offsets like 1 geode is 10 or 100 or 1000 bandit crest I would be happy. I would love to be able to swap them out geodes for crest and crest for geodes.

I also don’t believe it would be to incredibly hard to add the conversions into an extra spot at the various in place vendors. So with this new round of focus on these 2 zones, who else thinks this would be a good idea?

There have been a number of threads on the topic. ANet has hinted that the wallet is getting a QoL change in the future that would probably be released even before the HoT expac.

I don’t think we should restrict the request to just bandit crests or geodes. I think ANet should change their assumptions about how they handle stuff like this:

  • Something that can only be used at a vendor, it should be currency stored in the wallet. This includes crests, geodes, and pristine fractal relics.
  • Something that can only be used to craft or forge should be called a crafting material and stored in the material collections tab. This includes the obvious like ectos, but should also include doubloons.
  • They should limit the number of currencies that are crafting materials and vice-versa, but when something can be both, allow it to be stored in crafting materials.
  • And finally, anything that accumulates by the stackfull should get additional storage space (candy corn, snowflakes, ascended mats, etc.)

Just buy bags of stolen goods for 96 copper and 10 bandit crests and sell them on the TP for 4 silver, or open them in hopes of getting t6 materials.

Well honestly I need to far about 6 - 8 k geodes to buy the recipes to make the 19 insect weapons. I really would love to see currency from different zones of the same area be useful. Since i have thousands of crest and need thousands of geodes... It would make sense to be able to exchange them.

The jab at the wallet, was just a jab and not the intended topic of this thread.

Seconded. An exchange rate, or better yet a unified currency (or maybe multiple, but drop based off activity/enemy rather than zone) would be great. Require a single or small number of an extra trophy if you want something zone-specific, but make it clear on how to get it (kill this boss, for example). In fact, having a handful of HoT currencies that are common to zones would allow flexibility to have special items requiring X of currency A and Y of currency B.

You’d need to get different things, sure, but you wouldn’t have to grind grind grind each zone for each currency. You’d pick them all up naturally as you play around.

Example: Complete events to benefit a hylek tribe for beads (random item) that can be used in exchange with them, and in the process you find yourself defending a group of Pact soldiers and earn some of their tokens. You could use beads or tokens at their respective “faction’s” site, or have them both handy for a special reward only accessible if you have improved your gliding mastery enough (random example that we know of).

Edit: After hitting the post button, I realized this is a separate topic, really and that the OP wanted a solution for the nearer term, not across the expansion…
