You know, I’m glad people are happy about this addition and I’m not saying this change should go away but I never pay attention to the bird when I get mail. It’s gone so fast I don’t know how people will even see what creature it is.

It’s neat to see this put in the game, since I know there was a pretty fervent group who wanted it. And it’s nice to see some more cosmetic things, because honestly, playing dress up and customizing my characters is the only reason I play this game instead of others. (That is a sincere comment, not sarcastic, and when I explain it to friends, usually they end up getting interested enough to buy the game).

That being said, I really don’t care much about mail carriers, and would love to see some obtainable through the game via drops or collections. But to be fair, that’s mainly because I don’t want to pay for them, lol.

Though, if a snow owl is released, I’d probably be forced to buy it since my GF is a crazy Harry Potter fan. So keep that in mind guys.

I’d also love seasonal carriers, like a ghost at Halloween or reindeer at Christmas.

I know this isn’t everyone’s “thing,” but I love the idea. Heck, I’ll be sending more mail just to see the little guys.

It was mentioend multiple times in this thread, this was something that was requested. I’m positive new armors, maps and dungeons are way more work than a mailcourier

I’m sorry. As much as I like cookies I honestly don’t see how one could deliver mail. I mean it has no limbs for a start! Unless we’re talking Gingerbread men and that’s just silly. I still want Mickey the 12th Century Fox……

I would suggest to transform these Mail careriers similar to Minipents and Outfits not like Finishers.
I would like to have different ones for each character.
btw, I thins could co for Finishers too

I think you’ll find that everybody considers something completely different a “waste of dev time”. Including you, apparently.

ANet put cosmetic items in the gem store? IRRELEVANT FLUFF! WHAT A WASTE! ANet put useful items in the gem store? PAY TO WIN! SCANDALOUS! ANet put nothing at all in the gem store? No revenue = no new content.

So, I don’t know. I don’t think the latter is what anybody wants.

and if they created content other than gem store crap that people enjoyed more of us would maybe spend real money on what is already there to support the company. there are things in the store I want, but right now I am not spending anything on them.

I was impressed with the quick turn around from suggestion to implementation . . but it does make you wonder why everything else takes so long?

This “everything else” you are saying is maybe harder to implement?

Anet has a gemstore team. No resources are pulled from the other teams.

If your gonna add more carriers in the future, they better be visually noticeable but not super annoying (as little sound effects as possible).

As always, an asuran themed golem carrier would be awesome. Maybe one that falls from the sky, then rockets off away.

Where and when is this mail carrier supposed to appear? I admit, I’ve never detected one in two and a half years yet. I even asked my guild members to send me test mail and I watched my character very carefully (being in the Silverwastes at the time), but I didn’t observed anything apart from the flashing mail symbol in the topper left corner.

Will the carrier appear on the character or in the topper left corner near the mail icon?
Is there any video available that will show this?
Is there any graphics option I have to activate?
What carrier will the receiver see? Its own or the carrier of the sender?

I don’t really have anything against the mail courier, but saying “it was requested” is kind of funny. Requested by who? It is commonly known that the percentage of an entire MMO player base who reads the forums is very small. Usually less than 10%. And I’m positive that not 100% of the forumites requested this change (because no one I know asked for it and frankly I never even saw this request). So a tiny percentage of the player base asked for this change vs (as stated) 100% of the player base that uses armor…

There is a very small bird that flashes to your character and away. It is the same kind of bird that you can commonly see fly quickly by in the environment so it isn’t very noticeable. I’ve seen it go to other peoples’ characters while standing in town but I’ve never seen it come to my character either.

By ‘everything else’ I was referring more to the many small fixes that people have requested, not any major content. I fully appreciate that that does indeed take longer.
Kudos to Anet for this though

The only thing needed to fix now with it is the timing… it’s way off sometimes (posted in bug forum too). Sometimes it also comes and delivers nothing.

I’m sure Anet has either gemstore people or it is part of the “monetizing” team but I don’t believe that you are correct about resources. Gemstore people would think up ideas but the same people who program and test the rest of the game have to program and test the gemstore items since they are also used within the game. And I imagine the same artists that create the rest of the game create the art for gemstore items.

Stand next to someone as they send a message to you.

If you both have the standard message carrier (bird), then one should swoop past them and another should swoop past you. The first is a bird picking up the letter, the second is the bird delivering it. And yes, they can both be on the screen at the same time due to how the mail system works. Should make it easier to spot, though, with two birds to look for instead of just one.
