Hello GW2 community. New player with a question…

When can I access the mail system. I am level 11 now and still cannot send items/gold using the mail system. I understand it is to help combat gold spammers/sellers but I just bought 2 accounts for my wife and I to play and we cannot even trade items to help each other.

That feature is enabled after a certain amount of time passed and hours played has been achieved.

I’m sure you will be able to send items within a week or two, as long as you both are playing somewhat regularly.

or you can make a guild research guild bank and transfer stuff through there

that’s odd, according to http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mail you should unlock the mail feature at level 6 (though i cant confirm this myself as that restriction did not exist at launch when i was levelling my first character)

Aside from level 6, mails get locked for a certain time (I think 3 days?) after account creation to prevent gold selling via bots.

Guild banks are similar – you cannot take out or deposit items into a guild bank until you’ve been in said guild for ~3 days.
