Vials Maize Balm Exploit(Halloween) 2014
Locked out of JP (Wintersday) 2015
Vial of Maize Balm. Exploit or Financial liability for Arena net?
Here is a video of a repeatable exploit which allows very high amounts gold per minute.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWw9ODTr45k
This exploit is repeatable as long as you dont advance the quest that it involves, get in do it get out, thats it.
Now Is this an exploit? if so players who used it (and it is very easily traceable) should be punished accordingly. If it isnt, then isnt this a financial liability for arena net?. Think about this, this method floods the market with gold, which in turn is converted into Gems, which they also SELL. This means players who can still exploit it get potentially unlimited free services, where as the rest of us have to farm the labyrinth hours on end.
It’s not AFAIK. A thread was made about it and one of the game leads responded saying that in a player-driven economy, prices are up to what the sellers want them to be (I.E.: if this de-values ToT bags/is used to create a massive influx of tickets, then they do not care) since it does not affect the game (or profits) substantially.
If that has since changed, I don’t know. But I am currently operating under the response made about it a while ago.
First: It’s not an exploit. An exploit is the benifitial abusing of bugs. And there is no bug.
Second: Through this, no gold is generated, it’s the opposite. What farmers do, is to sell the stuff they find to other players which then pay the gold and 15% of the price simply evaporate. So the amount of available gold in the game actually drops through this.

You can sell the corn to np or players or the bags, plus there is the tin foil that drops in them, so some players actually have a bazillion higher chance at prize than others.

In FACT, to add to this point, it is ACTUALLY those that are “farming the Labyrinth for hours on end” that injecting huge amounts of gold into the game’s economy. I’ll just chalk the OP’s misunderstanding of the vast difference between these two activities as ignorance or jealousy.
Nothing to see here folks. Carry on.

lol you are seriously going to say that running random drop in the labyrinth out farms getting 15 trick or treats in like 10 seconds flat? I want some of what you are smoking.
You can’t sell the candy corn to NPCs. It’s vendor price is zero.
You could sell the bags. For 18 coppers each, instead of over 5 silver when selling over the TP. You still could sell some of the contents to NPCs, like the skulls for example. But I don’t think that many people do that, simply because there’s no reason to (the TP price has a minimum that’s bound to the vendor’s price).
I have a problem with this farm myself, because a majority of the players is excluded from it, while it’s the only reliable and stress-free way to farm using the maize balm, where you don’t have to deal with trolls that kill the ambient creatures “becuz lol”. And of course they benefit from it. But this is neither an exploit, nor does it hurt the gold-to-gems-ratio, which were your arguments in the first post.

And that’s why people continue to buy these bags at the current price. Farmers are selling these bags. They’re not opening them all for some minuscule gamble for a rifle skin.

Except farming the Labyrinth drops REAL COIN, adding gold to the economy. Farming and selling ToT bags transfers wealth between players. Instead of ‘smoking things’ maybe you should read some books.

I have no problem stating that i cant access the exploit, does not make it less of an exploit thou.
If ANET thought that this was a financial liability, they would change it.
For whatever reason, ANET is using Halloween to inject massive amounts of gold into the economy. Might as well grab as much as you can.
whoa, someone just emerged from under the rock.

tl;dr:
apparently its a gold sink (TP Taxes) and only move wealth from “rich” to “farmer”, not creating money out of thin air like many argues.

I can’t access the first instance either and I have to deal with groups of 10 people, that try to farm the same spot in the open world.
But that doesn’t make the thing I can’t do an exploit.

Pleading ignorance of the whole subject was an alternative I gave as well…
After two years of nothing from the mystic toilet, this farm is helping me buy a precursor, love it!

I run the maze for candy corn.
A side benefit is that I will never be hungry again.

I find it ironic that I see so many threads about how there is no valuable content being added to the game. That ‘these players’ quickly and easily breeze through all the new content that Anet puts out in an hour or so and, are then, “left with nothing to do for another two weeks or a month”. YET, here we are with thread after thread (from these same kind of people) complaining about how they rushed through the new content and are “locked out of this glorious, exploitative farm!”. I’m sorry you weren’t the one with the ingenuity to see how this farm could work as you were rushing through to get your ‘Meta Reward’ and 25 AP. I, however, have no sympathy for those who didn’t take the TWO WEEK opportunity to explore the possibilities of new mechanics introduced this year (IE. Maize Balm). On a positive note, these farmers are getting enough bags to sell them cheap in comparison to what they might otherwise cost.
PS. Feel free to purchase some Balm and explore Tyria to find your own little, niche farm. God Bless and best of luck to all of you!

Running the Lab gives you chances at Rares, Exotics, and even Precursors. That’s something ‘bag farming’ can NEVER do.

Well of course.
Running the lab has dropped a few rares for me. No exotics : (
The Kitten corn is dependable though. Bought all the shiny toys and have lotsa 20 slot bags now. plenty of change left over.
I’m not the one complaining.
