Hi,

I’ve refrained from buying gemstore instruments since the start, for only one reason. As soon as that reason gets fixed, I’ll buy most if not all of them (right now that’s 4000 gems).

==> Let us play flats (b) and sharps (#).
Also, make sure that there is 0 cast time/aftercast or anything breaking rythm. I know organs are impossible to play properly because of that. My new Choir Bell doesn’t seem to have this issue.

How to make this with current game mechanics ?
-> F1 = b
-> F2 = normal
-> F3 = #
F1 to F3 would either replace the skills like 9 and 10 already do, or apply a modifier on the next note played (we already have combat skills like Sharpening Stone that change the behavior of the next skill used, so I guess that this mechanic can be reused for instrument notes). Paying a Do after pressing F1 would sound the same as playing a Ti, playing a Fa after pressing F3 would result in a currently impossible Fa#.

Better idea but may not be possible with current game mechanics : F1 F2 F4 F5 F6 for usual altered notes.

Btw, several other gemstore items don’t feel “finished”. Given how they are priced, we would expect a better finishing of gemstore items.

• Permanent Royal pass/Captain Airship should let us reconnect without being kicked out of the place (especially for captain’s Airship as it causes double map loading – triple if we want to go back on it). Also, we should be able to use them from instances or from heart of the mists … just like the home portal stone.
• Total makeover / haitstyle kits should be available on character creation and used from bank if we choose one of the additional haitcuts/faces.
• Account bound items that are priced for full account use should give unlocks like Hall of Monuments Portal Stone or Zenith weapon skins. Or at least have a soulbound version of the items available for people who want them on several characters. The price change that came with account bound gathering tools felt really bad. This idea is for : gathering tools, both salvage o matics, home instance stone, and even toys (instruments, bobble head, water bombs, broom/tunneling/carpet).

Note : any dev looking at my account will see that I’m not joking when I say that I’d buy all or most instruments as soon as they get properly playable. The amount of money I’ve spent on gems over 2 years is very high (and check my second account too, just for fun…)

I don’t know if it implemented or not, since i don’t have it. But i would look into the flute if it had the option of controlling the tone lenghts by key press. For example i hold down the tone key for 3 secs, then it plays for 3 seconds then ends (softly). If i hold down for one second it plays for 1 second. Obviously not every instrument can have that mechanic, but a flute should if it’s not there yet.

I would invest a fair bit into instruments and do many things with them if such suggestions were acted upon.

As they are, I can’t really be bothered to do anything with them. They’re half-baked and I don’t find that useful to my entertainment.

One is only the smartest person in the room if they are alone.

I remember about another idea I had : I’d pay extra gems to be able to control GW2 instruments with a midi keyboard.

This probably sounds silly, but I think that it may not be that hard to implement : add midi library, bind midi notes to instrument skills and ignore notes that don’t exist on that instrument.
