I know, call me crazy
but I really do need them, I’ve spent more than $600 on primers already.
I just cant stop once I started using them, and now 30 mins or 1 hour buff bothers me a lot.
But well Anet never gives a s about me and doesn’t care about players who do want to spend money.

Although I don’t think this is a good idea, perhaps they could implement something where a chef can combine food to stack duration. Not one for one of course, but maybe something like how an Artificer can combine Agony Infusions?

that’s a very nice suggestion
but if we could do that then what’s the point for having or selling current primers…. (12 hours)

Well, I’m thinking it would require a Chef at L500 to start, so not everyone can do it (would be a great way to introduce L500 Chef). Also, you could max it at, say 6-8 hours.

In addition, the recipe should consume at least twice the amount of food for the duration you get. Example to get 8 hours duration, you need at least 32 1/2hr duration foods. It would be a convenience penalty, and also serve to possible dry up some of the food that is out there for sale.

If you’ve been able to justify spending “$600” on primers thus far, you’re not THAT poor. :p And you can ask for things all you want. But people are allowed to tell you if they think it’s a good idea or a bad idea, too.

What about a primer that costs 20-50s each time you use it? It would be amazing for expensive food but it would keep food from dropping below a certain price point. Why should food be expensive anyways? It’s kinda ptw when the food is insane like mussels gnashblade

A per use to activate primer could work.
I’d seriously consider buying them as long as they were less than say ~1g per primer activation.

Technically it could bring other people to spend money on those things, increasing their profit while losing profit from him.
I heavily doubt this will ever happen though because rip food otherwise.

The people who dont buy the current primers will also not buy permanent primers for hundreds of dollars each. Maybe they could be a super rare drop from black lion chests (even more rare than the permanent contracts)

1) food are part of the economy and already very low profit to craft at the moment, so if anything Anet should find way to increase profits from cooking
2) 1g for food per 30min is not expensive nowadays if you make 10g+ per hour

Using the best foods should have exponentially higher costs. Just like in real life where eating in a michelin star restaurant can easily cost a thousand dollars for a dinner.

I really was just assuming he’s throwing random numbers around and a permanent one would be differently priced. Permanent ones from the BLTC could be an option, yeah. Still doubt it.

if 10 people willing to buy ( at 200 price each 400 for both) so 4k in total they can make from them.
and 4k = tons of name change contract/ makeover kit/ and other useless stuff in gem store that people don’t care about.

But hey if you don’t want to buy it, doesn’t mean other people don’t want to buy it either.
Don’t underestimate the amount of players that are willing to spend money in this game.

They just list them in gem store with 16k gems for each/ or more. If people want it then buy it, if no then don’t. Just like everything else on gem store.

Maybe the Equipment panel could just have a utility and food slots where you drag and drop a stack, and it’ll automatically take from the stack and reapply when the duration runs out.

That’s 10 people who were likely buying individual primers, because only those addicted to using them would be able to justify $200+ for it. It would take way too long to become worth it in the game, because that’s how ANet would make it priced (either by super rare BLTC chest drop like all other permanent things or extremely high gem store price like the harvesting and salvaging items). So the average player who already doesn’t buy the primers, isn’t likely to spend money to get them (either directly or via keys).

yea that’s what I mean, because those who don’t buy things at all are not going to buy anything at anytime right? And to those who do, normally would only want to spend less than $20
So in this case, 1 person who wanna spend $200 = 10 or a lot more who don’t wanna spend a penny.
Thus 10 people already equal to or more than 200 average players
I am pretty sure there will be way more than 10 people who would like to have them.

But, im not quite sure how it will effect the game. I just assume all they need to do is list them in gem store. Wont cost anything to list them yeah? look at how many things are listed in gem store that no one even cares/ buy.

for now im just happy as long as they can fix the metabolic primer bug.

None of the permanent convenience items that have one time use versions sold on the gem store are buyable directly from the gem store. Meaning it would be several thousand gold on the TP or tons of money spent on keys to gamble with the BLTC’s.

Meaning that to make it worthwhile, a player would have had wanted to use the primer a whole lot. Meaning that most players won’t want to buy it. So the only ones who would would be the ones who are already addicted to them. Which means less money for ANet. Once you would have spent more than the gems used to purchase it, then it’s a loss for ANet.

Then there’s the negative effect a permanent primer would have on the economy. Players with the permanet primer would have permanent boosts. Meaning that they would only have to purchase it once.

Which could have 2 effects on the economy.

Prices of boosts skyrocket. Leaving players who can’t afford the permanent version or even the temp version unable to afford boosts at even their original state.

Prices of boosts tank as demand goes down. This reduces the gold sink nature of the TP and inflation sets in. And cooking becomes less profitable than it already is. And it already is not very profitable.

ah I get the idea, so put them in BLC is the most reasonable option in this case.
I gambled $600 to get the perma repair contract, just wanted to try my luck. It was quite stupid of course. Because the repair contract only costs only 1k on tp which only $100 if you just transfer 8k gems into gold.

but if you make them say 2k gold still tons of players can afford them?
look at all the farmers?? in ab and other maps. they make hundreds gold daily.

It would destroy the boost economy completely. It would either increase the prices so much that only those who could afford the permanent one would be able to get them or tank them so hard that no one makes them because they aren’t profitable. Which in turn means that players who don’t have the permanent versions have to spend more time without the boost while they make them themselves.

If you’ve spent $1200 on the game just for two items (metabolic booster and repair contract [where repairs are free]), and there are more like you, then ArenaNet probably already has a good thing going, as is.
