Make sigils and runes unlockable...

At the beginning of the game I had zero interest in forging a legendary. That was up until they added the ability to switch the stats on said legendary, between Zerker, Soldier, Clerics, or whatever you wanted going into any given situation. This was a HUGE thing for me, as my inventory was cluttered to the brim with various weapons for different situations, armors, and trinkets. It wasn’t a solution to all my problems, but it definietly put a dent into it.

But then after I finally built my Predator I found out how gimmicky the ability to swap traits on it really was. Why? Because often times the sigil you have attached to your weapon dictate your play style. For instance, if your primary playstyle requires as much might stacking as possible you might pick sigil of Strength and maybe Sigil of Battle. A week down the round you decide to do some group PvE with a heal spec but then you have second thoughts when you realize your sigils are completely useless on a healing spec.

I really think Sigils and Runes should be made unlockable. Maybe introduce a new kind of weapon/armor binding type so it doesn’t inflate the prices of sigils are runes too much. For instance, adding a sigil to a weapon will unlock it permanently for only that weapon. Or if that isn’t good enough, make this would be something that only applies to legendaries. It would be like an additional set of upgrades that could be done to make a legendary weapon even better, e.g., throw the legendary into the mystic forge with a sigil of your choice and some accommodating items depending on the tier of rune you’re trying to imbue. Maybe unlocking all sigils on a legendary would add an additional animation to it or something. That would keep the achievement hunters/min-maxers busy for a while.

With the addition of the new wardrobe, I think the idea of having multiple sets of basically the same equipment with subtle differences is a thing of the past. Making sigls and runes unlockable in the same fashion as skins seems like the next logical step to me. I doubt anything I suggested above is the best possible solution, but I just wanted to lay out some ideas to get the discussion rolling.

I guess, this will be a function, that might find its way into the game, once we see Ascended Runes/Sigils.

At least I’d like to see this happen together with this mechanic.

Get an Exotic Sigil/Rune, get some other stuff and craft it to an Accountbound Ascended Version of said Rune/Sigil, which when you place it into either an Ascended or Legendary Weapon unlocks the Sigil/Rune for your Account.

From that Moment on, when you craft Weapons, you give your own crafted Weapons/Armors/Accessoires free any of your accountbound unlocked Sigils/Runes/Gems and by doing so said crafted item becomes then automatically accountbound, so that it can’t be sold anymore, so that this whole mechanic about Ascended Runes/Sigils/Gems isn’t vertically better, than the exotic versions, but just is in itself a big quality of life improvement for Crafting.

I wish this would come together with Jeweler 500/ Chef 500 and that Jeweler 500 would be required to refine exotic Runes/Sigils/Gems with the help of a toll that only Jeweler 500’s can produce to Ascended Runes/Sigils/Gems as Account Unlocks.

Example:

Craft as Jeweler 500 with the help of Crystalline Ingots, Bloodstone Dust, Empyreal Fragments and Dragonite Ore said special Tool.- an Empyreal Dragonblood Crystal-Ring.
With this Ring in your Inventory, you can gain a Crafting Boon, that temporarely boosts your gained Crafting Exp, and it enables you temporarely, while this buff is active, to craft some special things, which you would normally not be able to craft.

Among these things, Ascended Runes/Sigils/Gems, Weapons/Armors with special Skins/Precursors, legendary accessoires ect. pp whatever ANet has in the pipelne for futurous legendary stuff ect.

Something like this would hit like several birds with 1 stone, which is why I like so much the thought about it, that Anet could do with the implemention of Jeweler 500 so much, which is I guess also perhaps a readson, why its still not implemented together with Chef 500, because i think ANet has some greater plans for those 2 craftign jobs for later in regard of some progressive game mechanics and crafting in general.

Since GW2 has its Wardrobe System, somethign similar autpomaticalyl came into mind naturally also too for any kind of upgrades, especialyl when you see, how SPvP handles them, where you can quickly give your items all the upgrades that you want, once youve unlocked them for your account and this naturally makes people ask them self, – why does somethign like this work for SPvP and not also too for all the rest of the game???

The Answer should be – it will work somewhen for the whole game.
So Anet, please make this happen

Personally I like the idea behind sub classes ~ quoted from Chris Whiteside
