Why the kitten would i NOT want to autoattack what i target and have to waste a split second to press my skill one button?

also there is “auto attack on target change” in option iirc.

And there is many reasons why you wouldnt want to attack something you are targeting ranging from a simple “Dont want neutral enemy to change to hostile quite yet” to “I just want to emote the person I have targeted”.

Would be annoying to auto attack an enemy player when im just trying to wave to them, or as I do more often /laugh @ , before i run away without being put in combat by auto attacking the enemy zerg

Aiming a cursor at someone in the thick of combat takes more than a second especially if he is behind you whooping ur donkey.

And i guess goofy buffoons laughing at enemies dont care much about saving up split seconds.

Forgive me, I was under the impression that since you are at the leisure of using auto attacking, meaning being forced into skill queue whenever you use another skill that doesn’t interrupt other skills, costing your oh so valuable split seconds, you’d have the time to click on your enemy.

I for one enjoy keeping full control of my actions.

For stealth range class like Mesmer, if you’re stealthed and getting ready to set up a burst, you don’t want an AA to reveal you before it’s too soon but you wanna be able to target them too

Also, i certainly do NOT want to attack someone with some source of reflecting between us, there is a MILLION reasons you might not want to attack something you got targeted

Retaliation when your low on health.
When they have a reflect of some type going.
When you don’t want to give away your position.
When your out of combat and trying to skate by a fight but you want to have them targeted incase they turn on you.
When your team mate is about to ambush them and you don’t want to force them to pop defensives early and ruin your teams burst.
When your making sure a downed person stays down but you aren’t trying to finish them quickly and instead forcing them to bleed out over time and your auto attacking them would actually help there team.
When its a guardian running avenging wrath.
Mesmers with chaos aur.
Eles with frost aura or fire aura.
When they popped invulns and your trying to time an attack for the split second after the invuln ends.
etc…
