Make up your minds people
People have different playstyles, don’t mix these two together.
Besides, they are not the same people saying these things. If they are, they are not against the group content. They are against farming and all the problems it causes. Lake Doric for instance, dozens of engineers just sitting in one place and people who want to do events which can’t be finished when there is not enough people to do them.
I did Cursed Shore zerg farming sometimes, but I didn’t act like a jerk if someone interfered with Jofast event. I understand that people want to do events like they are supposed to do. I think afk farming is pretty stupid too. Where is the fun if you don’t put any effort to the game and just “mechanically” play the game and stand in one place? It feels like grinding in Korean MMO, kill 10k mobs to get one level. Just as boring as it sounds.
I was one of the people who created a post about this issue and its clear OP hasnt even read my post at all. I even said in the very first line that I have no problem with farm zergs, grouping and playing content as a large group. Ive played group content loads and even have been part of farm trains myself.
What I do have an issue with is people getting extremely toxic when I want to just complete an event the way the game is intended. I also have an issue with bad event design that rewards more for failure than success which causes divides in the community.
I hope Anet takes notice of mine, and other peoples posts, and addresses the issue the way they have with other events in the past and remains consistent in their policy.

You seem to be under the impression that you’re the only person in five years to post about such issues. Yes, your post came to mind, but the majority of what I have seen has been over time on Reddit, not just here.
It was me.
<no it wasnt>I admit it.
<no I dont>I am the one who posted all of those threads with opposing viewpoints. I cannot make up my mind (s).
<yes I can>Shut up me, no I most certainly cannot. I mean what is the alternative…different people having different opinions? That is crazy talk!!!
<no it isnt>Is it crazy if there really are voices in your head?
There is playing in a group that’s good for the game and playing for the group that’s not so good.
It’s pretty clear to me that the best way to get the point of interest at the top of the centaur farm in Lake Doric, where the world boss spawns, is to run up with a group, which used to happen all the time. It’s how I completed that zone on every character before the centaur farm. it was something virtually anyone can do.
Clearly Anet did not envision the new turret short cut that the playerbase thought up and while it’s not against the rules to do it, it does change the nature of how the zone was designed…in my opinion. Though I think that design was pretty clear.
Is it possible to get that point without running up with a group? Sure it is. But it’s much much harder and everyone won’t be able to do it.
In this way the centaur farm as it stands now interferes with the original design of the map, and new players getting completion on that zone (which apparently some players like).
Unintended consequences are just that. Anet did not design that area for people to stay at the bottom with turrets.

Honestly, I don’t see the big deal with this.
There are a few upsides to this:
- For one, hey, more leather. Never a bad thing.
- Two, it’s hardly some form of automated farming. They’re using class-skills as intended. Turrets just happen to act autonomously after creation, but that’s skill using your skills to farm.
- Further, MMORPGs need braindead content. It’s helpful. Either you want to relax after a busy day while browsing reddit or the forums, or chat with people ingame, you want something you can “do” without actually doing anything.
- And lastly, this is in one of the throwaway maps from the LS releases. Good. They don’t generally have any really use beyond farming 1-2 items from it or so. They don’t feel designed to be all that permanent, despite in fact being here to stay. So if one of them ends up as a farming spot, better this than virtually any of the other maps.
