Make us re-play our personal story!
Its on their list I think, I hope they’ll do it soon though

Make people re do the story line with no reward?? I would rather watch an ED Wood omnibus
The only thing the story is worth doing is for priory/vanguard/whatwasthenameagain armory and weaponry.
Other than that I try to forget it asap.
In fact, I have yet to complete it completely, so I haven’t completely completed the complete story because I found it completely boring most of the time.
It would be good if they made personal story quests accessible from anywhere in the world without having to go to some silly spot to ‘enter instance’.
Some might argue ‘immersion’ but I find the value of that lacking vs the break off the story in taking time to get to location.
GW2 has enough loading screens already. I just feel a personal story should be playable more fluidly.
And i want to hang out with Destiny’s Edge again
Just replay Story Mode dungeons for that highschool drama storyline.
As for replaying the entire Personal Story, I’d only be up for that if they actually got rid of Trahaerne, every alt I level always stops the story at Claw Island.
Better idea. You go through the story around the same way but your the big shot.
Example. Static, Priory, Oor
Static. You form a crew and come up with a new invention but the Inquest want it and you gain a arch enemy
Priory. A new discovery of some sort, Your the head leading the troops but problems arise and you uncover something that is evil/the Dredge want/conflicts with another order.
Oor. With Salad dude finishing his wild hunt. It’s up to you and the Pact to clean up the mess and finish off the rest of the undead and Dragons
I only enjoyed the racial start missions after the orders were introduced I really wasn’t interested anymore especially with traherne..

You had a friend leave leave the rest of his friends to die over a girl in High School? What kind of place did you grow up in!?
:P
Replayable story? Good idea.
Actually replaying the story? Bad idea(Trahearne!!!!!)
I would like it so we can make changes to the paths we took through the Personal Story by playing the other parts(instead of actually having to make a whole new character to view that part), but i also want to skip every single part of the story that involves Trahearne. So allow us to replay “parts” of the story, or at least make Trahearne die.

Ooh, this I like.
Though it doesn’t quite work with Blood Legion since that involves crushing your old warband leader, which in this case would be you.
Or with Synergetics since your krewe leader was the traitor.
Or Norn because they’re all solitary kittens which will ultimately be their undoing.
There’s some real value, if you’re one of those who like the personal story, of making characters of different races and seeing the other starting stories. For one thing, the end of the game calls back to the beginnings of various stories. There are things that can happen in the Asuran story, for example, that introduce you to one of the NPCs who comes into play at the end of the game. There are things in the Sylvari story that are used in later missions. The entire thing is really a web, and pretty interesting.
I’d much rather play a different storyline than replay the same one.

Hate to do it again, but….GW1 did it. There’s no reason why GW2 can’t do it, too.
Believe it or not, some people enjoy replaying missions for the story, and don’t want to make a new alt just to re-experience it. GW1’s missions were replayable, why exactly can’t GW2’s be replayed (with slight alterations so that you can’t change an already-made decision point in the campaign)?
This is one of those small things that would’ve made a big difference if it had been rolled on release.
How’d that work out for us so far?
Now let’s try some ideas that will really work.
Easy.
Using the My Story tab on the Hero pane, you can access any “chapter” through the Mists. Since you are reliving history all choices are disabled.
LotRO has a very similar system where you can replay any plot instance by going to a Pool of Rememberance. As a reward, you gain tokens that can be exchanged for unique (though under-level and largely useless) items.
GW2 could do the same thing to give us new skins, Achievements and titles. Complete the Battle of Claw Island 5 times, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, 50 times until you unlock a title. Along the way you gather tokens for a unique armour and weapon skin appropriate for your Race and Class. Different titles and skins are tied to Race and story section (personal, Order and Pact). The exposition instances don’t count for anything, of course. You could also have a meta-Achievement for completing your entire story, every single instance (with locked choices) from beginning to end, a certain number of times which rewards you with a complete set of skins and a title.
I quite enjoy the story and, as a couple of people have pointed out, they are very different depending on the choices you make at character creation and during the plot. Playing as other Races really fills in some gaps in the story. There are some fantastic “episodes” in the story that I would love to play again… but, as it stands, some of them I will never have the opportunity to simply because I won’t be making the exact same character and making the exact same decisions again. This is how it should be. From a story standpoint, this is the very definition of replayability.
There seems to be a bit of a trend on this forum at the moment, that amounts to “I want to do everything on one character”. As well as this idea of replaying the story to make different decisions, there are threads about changing your name, Race and gender. So… it seems some people want to get a male Charr Warrior to level 80 as the Blood Legion in the Vigil and then, at level 80, turn Snarl Gorestomp into Ms Hugsn Puppies, the Human female Mesmer who lost her sister and joined the Priory…. and then at some point turn her into Imno Tyoda the Asura Thief. There’s no other way to say this… that’s just plain stupid. Lazy, too.

There can be some tweaks. like Synergetics can try to invent something new under your watch and try to clean there name from the traitor who sold out to the Inquest.
I haven’t played much much about charr story but from what I remember your don’t really recruit many people to the warband after the beginning.
Norn maybe you go on some spiritual journey to better understand your animal you were birthed under.
Some of us did have to replay it!
There was a bug in the 1st couple of months that jumped you to the level 40 parts.
We’ve been awake since March 2007! Please help!
“GW2 the game with more rolls than roles!”
I stop at claw island now after doing 1 toon all the way through. I have alts for all races so I know the basic story from most sides. The latter storyline just does not impress me at all.
I would love to replay the Tybalt chapters of my personal story <3
“Make us” – no. Give us the “choice” to re-do it if we want to – yes please! :P
And i want to hang out with Destiny’s Edge again

Same here. All I’d like to see is the brilliant build up in your personal story before Claw Island actually have an effect after Claw Island. It’s as if nothing carried through the story. For a game boasting choices that matter, they seem to jump ship as often as possible.
Make your choices from the opening biography questions matter right through to the end. The story line felt more like a tv show where each episode had its own little story, sort of a “Monster of the Week” flavor. There wasn’t epic build up or permanence from level 1 to 80, and that I really disliked.
What didn’t work for me was that Destiny’s Edge felt a bit flat and one dimensional. They didn’t really have any deep characterization. I was really looking forward to experiencing the game with these guys, but at level 80, I was a bit disappointed.
Throughout the game the theme of Destiny’s Edge was:
Logan: “I love my queen.”
Rytlock: “I hate you Logan.”
Logan: “I hate you for hating me.”
Eir: “Come on guys, don’t fight.”
Logan and Rytlock: “Shut up!”
Zojja: “You guys are stupid. Especially you, Eir. Your stupidity is incalculably astronomical.”
Eir: “Why don’t you guys like me?”
Caithe: “Sigh. Why must we squabble? The Dragons, can’t anyone see the Dragons?!”
Basically, yeah… During the early levels there’s a bit of story going on, but even there the characters follow the same basis.
Moving forward, I really hope ANet flesh these guys out a bit more. Develop their personal struggles, give them investments and internal, as well as widespread, stakes in their surroundings. Make them more believable than just making them furnishings around the storyline.
Like Sokar Rostau said, it coul be done from the story tabs menu with options disabled as you’re reliving it.
In gw1 you could replay every story mission.
It would be good to play the whole story consecutively without leveling interruptions.
In my case I still have to fully do it as I wanted to record the whole thing with my maxed character but now I’m waiting till they fix my (duelist) armor texture so the video isn’t a constant show of a bug. If I knew I could redo all chaptera I will go for them and record later.
Its a great idea. Just today, I was playing on a story quest when I mislooked a decision and chose the choice I didn’t want. Now I have to play through an entire portion of my story that I don’t want.
Hard mode like in GW1?
You couldn’t pay me to sit through the story again. It pains me every time I sign on to an alt and see that story UI unfinished in the corner. Once was enough….
I’d love to go back and playthrough some of the earlier missions. Have an actual reason to go back to Divinity’s Reach….
I’d rather not have to make a new character that I don’t want and go through all those zones for the 5th time, in addition to having to spend time gearing out.
It’s a part of the game they worked hard on that a lot of people enjoyed, but we can’t replay some of those epic battles and relive the story. I would love to go back and experience the battle of claw island, or play through the final chapters to appreciate what the characters lost to finally defeat Zhaitan.

The choice to replay would be great. Like the historians in elona. But I think playing as the mentors of your order and those of the other orders would be fun. Like in EotN.
…. and then at some point turn her into Imno Tyoda the Asura Thief. There’s no other way to say this… that’s just plain stupid. Lazy, too.
I’m sorry, I got to:
“My name is Imno Tyoda. You killed my mentor Tybalt. Prepare to die.”
(-hangs head in shame-)
On topic!
I do like the idea of using the Mists to replay Personal Story parts you really enjoyed for experience, karma, and some coin . . . AND a choice of equipment again since some of those apparently are unique (Commando Jacket, WHYYYYYY).

The Historians were in all main cities and a part of the “Bonus Mission Pack” which . . . by the way, was some of the most awesome crafted missions I played out of Guild Wars 1. I really enjoyed Saul’s story.
Wow didn’t know anybody actually liked the story. Between the boring or even hated characters (Trahaerne especially but I found most others boring as well), boring missions (mostly go to an area and kill risen), and almost no plot ending with the saddest dragon of all time. Maybe cause I came from GW1 which was story based, so I expected an actual good story, but I only do it for the quick exp. “Choices” meant nothing and the only emotion I felt was laughter at a few characters stereotypical deaths and cheesy lines.
As for Destiny’s Edge, they aren’t even a part of your story beyond one member at the start. Just play Story Mode versions of dungeons if you want the barely interesting drama that was a lot more fleshed out in the novel. Hoping the Living Story becomes more interesting.
(Do have to admit I enjoyed the story for the most party up until a little after picking an order to join. )

They use Story points to encourage players to explore maps not just waypoint in and out… otherwsie the choke points in game will be even worse than they are already in some map locations… what’s the point of having all these maps and DE’s etc if no one has to take toons through the maps in the first place.
But, if it narks you that much then you don’t have to run the story until your so far over level that you can then just waypoint in, and crusie in and out without any kind of immersive experience… not that I am saying the stories are all that immersive since most story arcs are 90% replicated
I would love it if you could reply story missions. I loved doing it in GW1 and don’t see why they can’t do it here. But yes I agree to give the choice. Like on your story tab implement a button saying ‘Replay this chapter’ or something to that extent.
i’d like it to have a replay value after you complete it but in the sense of increasing difficulty, that could be fun.

i ment the historians that allowed characters from other campaigns to play missions that were done before they came to the continent.
the bonus mission packs were great. so Anet do that again. we like it.
I would like first some “remake” of some systems of Story Mode, that story mode was very “unloved” by the DEVS in this game, became too simple, with all missions about samething, kill this, kill that…. And I miss cinematics, conversations screens, no match, it takes away immersion.
If DEVs decide do improve story mode, and make it more fun with more “gameplay options”, diferent kinds of missions in story that aren’t always about kill mobs….
Then yes, an Option to replay story mode would be awesome.
Asura thing.
It’s a chore going through the “Personal” story once but you want to do it again!?!?!? Glutton for punishment eh? lol.
The only way I’d EVER do the story is if they remade it entirely and made it an actual personal experience with choices that I can make that actually change my playthrough and give me a unique experience just about every time I created a new character! Oh and just to nitpick give us different voice options as well so I can make characters sound different somewhat..
I agree with OP. Sometimes, I wish to have an option to do ‘Order of Whispers’ storyline, again xD. I’m not really an altoholic guy, so that would be nice.
I agree with many above me. If the story was actually good with cut scenes, unique gameplay (different types then just go in and clear), deeper character development, and an actual purpose to the choice you make (maybe even dialog choices like some Bioware games use). Basically redo the entire experience. Otherwise it’s not worth the resources unless it would only take them a few minutes to implement.

Totally redoing it would be such an intensive draw on resources we probably would not get much in the way of any content for a while. Yes I know there are different teams, but there’s only so much budget to go around. Voice actors aren’t cheap :P
Replay the story… I so miss hearing Trahearne following me around saying….
“This won’t end well….” How little did I know he meant the personal story… not that particular fight.
I would love to replay the personal story (I made a topic about it in the Suggestions forum a while ago).
I don’t think they should make us do it, if people don’t want to then that’s up to them. But it should be an option. There are many parts I would like to do again for various reasons, like not fully understanding the lore/history behind something the first time I did it, having to play with the sound off, or simply really enjoying it and wanting to go again.
I’d also like to re-visit Claw Island because it seems a shame to only be able to go there twice.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
I’d also like to re-visit Claw Island because it seems a shame to only be able to go there twice.
I vote we have the Pact take it over and since Fort Trinity is very out of position for an assault on any of the other dragons it can be a central command. And with the leadership away from Orr, there is no need for people to have to deal with Trahearne on a regular basis.
Win for them, win for you, win for everyone. Except the Risen. And the Lionguard.
