Hey guys,

Been a good long time since I played Gw2. Gonna be a ton of hate, but was on WoW LMAO.
After thinking, i’ve decided to give Gw2 a shot. And am wondering as a new player, since I’m gonna start from square one, there’s a few questions in my mind.

- Do people still play Gw2? As in enough to have proper players in open world stuff go smoothly?
- Which server is the most “friendly” for new comers/comebackers like myself? In terms of population i guess.
- What would be a solid soloable class, yet is also sought after by parties and raids?

Right now got my mind fixed on going back to my old MMO’s that I used to play, one of em is gw2, others are Rift, Rappelz, Rose, Gw2, Swtor so kinda wanna see which is the best and most comfy out of all.

WoW, has run dry for me LOL

With MegaServers, there are more comments on too many people on every map, rather than too few.

All Worlds are about the same, friendly-wise, as they all share maps. The only real consideration in Home World choice would be WvW.

I can’t give advice about any Profession, as I main a Ranger, and she suffers from social stigma. Lol.

Welcome return.

Ah, googled it and saw. So its sort of like Connected realms kinda thing Blizzard did.

Has it been implemented fully yet? Saw in April they did it for Level 1-15 zones first.

It’s implemented fully.

Also there are no raids. The most useful all round professions seem to be guardian and warrior, but aside from a few min/maxers and speed runners, most people don’t really care, even though speed runners might tell you differently.

This game isn’t WoW. The people who treat it like WoW care. Everyone else plays what they want and has a good time doing it.

Actually, it was low-population maps, first. And yes, it is fully implemented. Everywhere but WvW.

If you played GW2 before, I would recommend that you don’t delete any of your already created characters.

Why? Because those characters have their traits unlocked(except 1GM trait for each line). The new trait system is manageable, but can be a kitten when some adept traits are unlocked at level 60 (If you don’t spend gold + skill points to get them).

Also those characters will get birthday gifts. Free stuff is still free stuff.

Many things changed, but if you aren’t allergic to google, you should find out what those changes are.

Cheers!

Sometimes it’s necessary listening to the silence, it could tell more..

Welcome back be sure to check out any living story stuff you may have missed on youtube (if you care about the lore)

Megaservers really fixed all the low pop map problem, though it made rp much harder.

The lfg system is also cross server so just be sure to read the party description to make sure you won’t be kicked for being the wrong class/spec/dye colour

To OP: You’ll have to decide between ‘soloable’ and ‘sought after’. Warriors are the easiest to solo with quickly, but their party utility is sorely limited outside Battle Standard. Utility wise mesmers would generally have the most variation in the support they can bring, but are somewhat harder to solo with, especially given long cooldowns on phantasms – they take some time to set up their max potential.

Most of the others are not as easy to do well in. Thieves require extreme timing, any condi build requires understanding the conditions completely, and engis/eles require tracking all cooldowns on all kits/attunements to choose the correct skill for each situation, making them the hardest in terms of coordination to pull off well. Rangers can survive well, but are nearly never used to their max potential – drawing much hatred from other players in PvE. Guardians need an understanding of healing, blocks and stability to keep others alive and active reliably in addition to their damage skills, which run on a very tight cooldown schedule.

In terms of server you don’t need to care if you’re not intending to WvW. Different times do have different types of players however – and you may find raids/dungeons succeed more often in certain timezones than others.

Dungeons you can find in LFG. There are only really two raids at the moment, Tequatl and Triple Trouble. Each requires an essay, it’ll be better for you to join a world that puts ‘org teq’ or something like that 45 minutes before spawn, and ask the people there what to do as you reach.
